How Do I kill Calo Nord At The Sith Academy?
Eek!
Look!
It's Calo Nord!
How do I beat him?
What companions are best for the job (decluding Bastila)?
I am a Jedi but
Am on low health.
I keep throwing
grenades (Ion+concussion)
Calo gets weaker when in close combat
I have lots of energy shields+Stealth belt
I can use sith lightning even though
I am neutral.
I can also forse strangle.
Calo saves against forse strangle. and Lightning does 26 damage when aimed at him.
He has 2 sith guards with vibra-swords.
So Hard!
Please help.

Calo is a ranged fighter - but if I remember does use grenades. Are you a Jedi Sentinel, Guardian or Consular? If you are a Guardian or have Juhani - she can force jump to close the range down in an instant and keep him busy. If you are neutral, it would be best not to waste force energy using dark side powers. Use the force for buffs such as speed and healing and force push can also prove useful. Having different lightsabers for different purposes can also be useful - e.g for high damage or for blaster deflection.
Remember also that you can pause the combat to change tactics.

Use his own tactics, chuck grenades at him; worked for me.

Calo Nord can appears on all four planets. It depends upon how many planets you have finished. IIRC the fight on Korriban was the toughest one (limited space resulting in a bad place for Force Jump, and Calo gets strong Sith to help him), the other planets are easier (on Kashyyyk, Carlo has just two or three Wookies as help. On Tattoine, four battle droids).
This game uses pointbuy, so how powerful you are depends only upon how wisely you design your character. In your case, it doesnt sound like you informed yourself what good builds are out there (poor choice of forcepowers, you're still neutral). Unfortunately, KotoR is kind of poorly balanced in some respects. Meaning a great build will make this game trivial, a poor build can make it quite hard.
The available builds are actually fairly easy and logical: either go full lightsaber, or go full force.
Full force means: coundrel 2/Consolar, Cha 14, Wis 16, boost to Wis 21, Lightside Mastery for Cha+3, use lightside only gear from Korriban for another +10 Wis, learn Healing, Speed (sometimes you need to run away), Wave, Choke, Valor, and then whatever. Congrats, you have a ***load of force points and a ton of powers to choose from, and really nobody can resist your powers anymore. Well ... at least not all the freaking time anymore. Some will still need multiple applications of Force Choke before it actually hits. Also, dont forget to Valor before you try Choke such really tough opponents.
Full lightsaber is easy, nobody can resist lightsabers anyway: max Str, Force Speed, Dualweapon, one out of Power Attack, Dueling, or Critical Strike. Get Heal and if you're DS also Lifetap. Maybe go Scoundrel7/Guardian for +4d6 Sneak Attacks on Force Jump and if your opponent is disabled.
You can also go more defensive (max Dex, Dueling etc), but the toughest opponents will hit through your defenses anyway, so thats really pointless.
Strictly avoid to spread yourself. Dont give yourself a little of this, a little of that. This leads to a build that cant do anything right. And especially avoid the darkside Consolar. They arent fun at all.

If you go full Lightsaber, don't forget the full Force Speed tree, the single most powerful meleepowers in the game. Get the Flurry line of feats.
For a full Force Users, I don't see the benefit of Scoundrel 2; given the poor HP of Counselars, I'd even rather advice Soldier or the all-purpose Scout.

I'd advise getting the mod that allows you to level to Jedi at level 2 already, so you can be Scoundrel1/Consular19, hehe. Now that was one fun mod. Of course, even better would be getting one that would let you START as Jedi, but oh well.GawainBS wrote:For a full Force Users, I don't see the benefit of Scoundrel 2; given the poor HP of Counselars, I'd even rather advice Soldier or the all-purpose Scout.
And yes, doesnt really matter which, so you can just as well do Scout or Soldier, who cares.
Just as long as you dont sacrifice in respect to how hard it is to resist your force powers, because, as I mentioned before, some opponents really have insane saving throws and you can use really every little bit to get through those.
With lightsaber builds, you can be a lot more lazy.
Of course, even better would be getting one that would let you START as Jedi, but oh well.
If you don't mind cheating, then you can use the KSE editor and be a Jedi from the start.

Thats because you simply meet him at the first planet you go to.
ANY of the four planets will do.
Reading this forum has inspired me to restart another KotoR run and I have to say Calo Nord IS indeed very hard.
Much harder than the guys that come after, especially since you're still quite lowlevel and weak at this point.
It didnt helped that I did not have my best fighters with me, either.
I guess with the medipack cheat he's manageable, but instead, I simply killed his underlings, left the map, and returned at full health and force points to finish Calo off.

once you've gotten to know where he shows up on each planet, you can plant land mines ahead of time before the battle, so he'll hit them as soon as the fight begins and weaken him

I've kinda done this on a few play-throws without cheat/mode, just by not leveling up my main character until I am off Taris, and have started my Jedi training on Dantooine (this well leave you with a very weak character, and make Taris very challenging, as well as you first Dantooine mission) which if you've done a lot of play-throws already and you find this part to be too easy/boring it might give you a good challengegalraen wrote:If you don't mind cheating, then you can use the KSE editor and be a Jedi from the start.
Just found this for those who want to start as a Jedi
WARNING DON'T USE THIS MOD IT SCREWS UP YOUR GAME
Or at least it did mine. Played all the way through to boarding the Ebon Hawk but then it was game over, every time it got to the [expletive deleted] mini game ti froze up. Reinstalled without this mod, no problens

I figured out basically all of them:
Taris: (First encounter) You'll meet him when you go into the cantina in the lower city.
Kashyyk: In the beginning of the bottom of the Shadowlands.
Korriban: The back of the Sith Academy (You go there to get prestige, talk to your sith 'Master' for more)
Tatooine: Maybe the "Ancient Dune sea"?[/quote]

You meet him on Tatooine after you killed the krayt dragon and got the starmap. He'll be outside, then.
This is an easier fight, because you already got quite an amount of xp at this point. However, doing this planet first will lead to some pretty hefty encounters with those sand people. I remember my people being slaughtered in ONE round. Its kind of hard to handle that.
Manaan, well I never did that planet first, but you meet the OTHER npc you will meet on the third planet (and for the other planets, you meet Calo and the other NPC always at the same points) in the underwater station, very close to the end. So again you'll have a lot more xp and level at this point.
So yeah, the fastest way to meet Calo is on Korriban, the second fastest is on Kashyyyk.
