Hi people. I just started a D&D campaign with some friends and so far have had 2 sessions which have both been quite successful.
Though im running into some problems. I need a good way to decide what items are in shops and in loot, at the moment im looking up on the wiki and have a decent sense of what i want to be in shops and loot. But it is slow and inefficient and far from random.
The books i have at my disposal is the Dungeon master`s guide, Players handbook, Monster manual and Magic item compendium, i suspect that i lack some books and would like to know which ones i should get.
If it is relevant im playing a heavily modified 3.5.
Any help i would be thankful for.
New DM looking for some answers.
GawainBS wrote:Magic Item Compendium has tables in the back to randomly generate loot, which goes a long way to what you're asking. When I DM, I rule that in every large city, players can get every item they can afford or upgrade, as long as they're not unique or very setting/campaign specific.
I have used the magic item compendium for loot quite a bit, however the tables in the back has each item available with M233 or S122 or something similar to that which i deciphered to be pages in the book, however only items with the D or M letters i think actually show the item in the magic compendium while all other letters do not, which i can only conclude in me lacking some item books.
Hmm i guess that is a good way to do it, players still cant afford much so i could do it that way i guess, it will be a bit uninteresting in the beginning though, until they amass some wealth
