How good/bad is it this time? Which changes have been made, gameplay-wise? From what I've gathered, they've made changes to the class system? (MMXII's system still does not reach the great standards of the Collector's Edition, though...)

The full change list is here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/271760/di ... 979297170/

I think it is the best edition. My personal ranking is:
Steam Edition
Collectors Edition
Original
MMXII

I did not like the skill point system in MMXII. The skill system in Steam Edition is most similar to the Original and Collectors edition. It seems most bugs are fixed, but I haven't found any new content vs MMXII.

so far i'm liking the game , abit better looking, (i've only played the collectors one)the skills are abit different, don't get 1000's
of point to put where you want, ithinks its more you use them the quicker you can fully upgrade them, i mean you get 3 skill point per level up ,and if you use your sword alot, then lets say you can go from 2 to 3 skill in swords with one piont but if you don't use your shield much you may go from 2 to say2.87 and that will use a full point.
i think i'm right in saying that what ever class you start as you get some type of spell's.
the other i noticed is i always started as a fighter and i would aways find to bow to take out the ogre in the theater. not this time, not sure if thats the game or me ...

That's good news, that the skill system is more akin to CE/Original than to MMXII. I'm probably getting this version as well...

I got this version and it looks a lot more polished.
Just a couple of questions:
What's the benefit of using the Bash skill? Easier to learn or something?
Does non-metal armour still fall to pieces after a couple of hits?
If I want to learn as much types of Magic as possible AND use heavy armour & weapons, I think that Adept/Mage/Valkyrie is the way to go, correct? Probably finish off with War Angel for the weapon-heal.
What's a good second class for the Mage? (Ever since MMXII learning bonuses are gone, so I know that it's less important.)

Thanks in advance!

Guys (and gals): please do share any information or reactions to the steam released version. Dungeon Lords is one of my favorite games. So far I have read a few things on steam forum. One thing is that the class system changed from 2 base, 2 intermediate, and 1 master to dropping 1 intermediate. So now it is 2 base, 1 intermediate, and 1 master. I have it on my wishlist waiting for a sale.

Not true: I have a Fighter/Mage/Valkyrie/Sorcerer, with a fifth "slot" being accessible obviously for the 3rd tier.

It IS the (inferior to CE) MMXII game, though, might want to keep that in mind.

It comes with tooltips on most menu's and stats, so that helps. Spells now show appropriate damage, AoE & duration info.
Weapon, Magic & Repair skills increase on their own.
Armour skills actually have benefit, i.e. armour provides loads more protection with skill points.

It still features the crappy durability, so anything non-plate/scale with certain weapons is virtually unplayable due to paper gear. Repair kits are more common, though. (But not common enough by a mile.)

Scout/Mystic Vision "works", but offsets all info on the map to the right, making it rather hard to read.

So far, I didn't have a single bug.

Oh, yeah, the "Bash" skill is the way to go: level it ASAP & never touch the thief skills.

Thanks Gawain. Here's some more info if you haven't already read it http://steamcommunity.com/app/271760/di ... 979297170/

One thing I read on repairing is that some shops randomly restock the kits. Of course it would have been much more convenient if they would have just had infinite sales of repair kits. I seem to have read that out of repair armor doesn't reduce it's protection but rather makes you 'grow' your armor skills slower? Read that either on the steam forum I linked or else in the steam customer reviews.

Armour damage DOES reduce its protection. Armour skills never grow "naturally". Only Weapon skills & castable Magic Skills grow naturally.

Steam Edition is 50% on sale I think untill may 8. I am still not buying until Nordic Games says something or fiixes/balances item decay and rarity of repair kits.

edit: also not loving the default blue writing on the forum here in terms of visibility!

Word from the wise (because they've been burned): the Steam Edition is the same kind of mess as MMXII. i.e. Weapons crumble if they touch an angry ant. Too few repair kits. Questitem inventory bug not fixed. Inferior class system compared to Collector's Edition.
