Joe,

That is incorrect. Rangers only get two dots in Two weapon style. It is free, but they can not add a third. I also *thought* that swashbucklers were restrictecd from that third dot but I might be mistaken.

Sorry, Polaris, it is correct. Rangers can get 3 starts in 2 weapon style, though not always on character creation. Why not always, that is for Bioware to explain (bug?), but I have never had a problem of putting the third star later, for any kind of ranger - plain, kit, dual, etc.

Path,

I can not add more than two dots to two weapon style...and the manual (and PnP for that matter) is also unequivocable. Rangers get 2 dots only...abeit a free two dots. I am quite sure on this. Please recheck.

Path,

I just rechecked, and you were right and I was wrong. I am not sure why I couldn't add another dot before though..... I also wish to add that I checked out the swashbuckler, and he can also get three dots in Two Weapon style.

Having said that, Rangers do NOT get all three dots for free. They only get the first two...but in PnP they should get all three.

In that you are absolutly correct. For free are only two stars. And BTW, if you create multi R/C, you cannot put 3 stars usually, and this is known bug with fix at Baldurdash.

Actually in pnp they should only get 2 for free, at least by 2nd edition. Sorry to nitpick.

Right. There's no difference in attacks between Specialization and Grand Mastery. Only Damage, THAC0 and Speed Factor.

Two for free. Heh. Since you then get 6 points to spend, while Fighters have 8 points, there's no advantage to being a Ranger in this respect.

Shame, it'd have been a nice Ranger bonus to be the only class caperble of having 3 points in Dual Wielding.

I agree Quitch. I think the ranger is one of the coolest classes to roleplay, but i think it has very little to offer. The only thing it gets in level progression are more charm animal abilities...big whoop! True, it gets some cleric spells, but i generally find these to be insubstantial when compared to the priests in my party. Ranger, to me, can be a good warrior, but just seems kinda boring. It needs more diversity with the addition of levels.

There is patch at Team BG, called BG Attacks. It gives 1/2 attack extra for GM, bringing it to agreement with AD&D rules.
