FOA Question

Post by shesgottahaveit »

Say you have a Fighter with:
3 Attacks per round
** war hammer
** Flail
*** Two weapon style

You also have the Hammer of thunderbolts and flail of ages.

Which hand do you put them in respectivly and why? ie. left side of screen hand or right side of screen hand. Looking at the charater profile.

id say that you put the better weapon in the left slot for right handed use because the left hand I beleive is offhand and you have less chance of hitting. dont quote me on this its just some speculation

You only get 1 attack with a left-hand wielded weapon, while you can have multiple attacks with you right hand.
BTW your tach0 will always have some penalties for your left hand - IIRC then with 3* in dual wield you'll recive a penalty of 2 to your left.
There for the weapon you want to attack most often with sould be placed in your right hand.

In your particular example I would put the flail in your right and hammer in your left - because the flail has some combat bonus' like extra damage and most important the slow ability.

It doesn't make much of a difference. Although the manual suggests you only get one attack with your off hand weapon, in fact you will get 1 extra attack and your total number of attacks will then be split evenly with any extra going to your primary hand. With a high level fighter using the boots of speed, this means you will get 2 with each unless hasted.

So, the only difference is the -2 to Thac0 with the off hand (with 3+ in dual wield). Much of the time this won't matter since you'll only miss on crit hits anyway. However against an opponent with very good AC, it can make a slight difference. Since FoA actually does more damage (since both weapons get the Str bonus) and also gives a chance to slow you want that as your primary.

Heh...just re-read the example. In this case you definitely want the Flain in the right hand, like Xandax said.
