@Drakron: I want to let you know that I didn't take any offense to your criticism of the story. Faults are inevitable, but I and the others try our best to keep the story coherent and enjoyable. But you need to careful because tensions are high not just in this topic, but on the whole gamebanshee forum network. Just be careful what you say to the crowd at large. Other people took your criticism as an attack on them.
@Waverly and Melosh-tar: Try to give Drakron some leeway, okay? I see how what he said could have offended you guys, but try to minimize the hostility. I think it all started with Melosh-tar saying this:
That's what make things interesting. Having a DM can sometimes be a pain in the @ss. Here we are different indivuals expressing themselves. And what's wrong with that. Not everything has to be perfect or done by the rules. We don't need fun governers on every corner. I don't see anyone B!TCHING, but you. And your not even involved. And if there was a problem it is taken care of.
Then Waverly posted with an angry reply to Drakron, and Drakron responded with a furious counter. I'm not accusing you guys, because recently this has been typical throughout the boards here. Almost everyone here has been involved in one of the heated "flamer" topics of late. But we're here to have fun in this topic especially, and all these fights accomplish is hurting others' feelings. So let's let this matter drop, and try to avoid more confrontation in the future.
@Melosh-tar: BTW, I'm really confused. You were defending the story, yet you want out. Why? If you have a grievance, tell me and maybe we can address it. If you really do want out though, there's nothing I can do to stop you.

Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
Oh my, the things that happen when you're busily playing Fallout night and day.
I should have known my brash action would lead to an equally brash counter. Waverly, not only were you magically bound, but Void was "standing" right there ready to seize your mind if you dared to attack. At least that was my plan if you tried anything. Since events are already way beyond that, I guess I'll have to practice my flexibility.
First, to redo my characters' roll in this matter. Your guys' story was great, but there's something you guys couldn't have forseen... Assume anything that isn't changed/mentioned here remains the same. I'm telling this from Magus, Aerie, and Void's point of view, so most of the other characters' activities will be omitted. Believe it or not, I've toyed with the following idea for a while now, and the events here just pieced together perfectly to finally reveal my secret...
Once again Magus feels the dessicating cloud close on his body. His mind flashes to another time and place, and he relives the battle with Ubik. He remembers the horrible sense of helplessness as his skin shriveled and cracked... Suddenly, an incredible rage suffuses him. A barrier of pure, swirling magical energy springs up around him, absorbing the three spells. His eyes and body glow a startling bright blue.
Amidst the frenzy of battle, Void senses his master's energy. For once, the imperturable being is frightened. He had had his fears, but never did he expect the extent to which they had been realized now.
Meanwhile Aerie fights for her life against the dragonling and the two invisible stalkers. Caught unprepared, and still unused to battle, she can't bring her spells to bear against them. Fallout engages the two invisible stalkers, but can't manage to get at the dragonling. She is only teleported a short distance away by the teleport field, and seconds later her casting of a sanctuary spell is interrupted by the ripping claws of the dragonling. She screams in agony as her abdomen is layed open, and collapses to the ground...
The teleport field fizzles into the great pulsing ball of energy surrounding Magus. He spins on the poisoned Waverly, who has not given up and is casting another spell. Suddenly, Waverly's voice cracks with a croak, and his eyes bulge grotesquely. He slowly turns his head to Magus, and stares death itself in the face. Trip-Wire, who had been rushing in for the kill, halts and stands transfixed, horrified. Rail manages to pull his eyes away from the ghastly sight, and sees the glowing form of Magus. Void watches all with a horrid fascination.
Then Aerie's scream breaks the trance. Somehow the agonized voice of his love penetrates the magical energy consuming Magus's mind. He whirls around, and Waverly, released from the awful pressure, slumps unconscious to the ground in traumatic shock. Magus spots the dragonling standing over her, and it immediately turns to stone. Then he appears next to Aerie. Through the haze of pain, Aerie senses his gaze, and looks up to see his bright glowing form. She smiles, then she falls limp and her eyes glaze over in death. As Magus stares at her, loss overwhelms the fury inside him. The wild energies surrounding him seize to swirl, and time itself seems to stop. After an instant that lasts forever, he kneels and places his hands on her chest. The wild energy surrounding him streams through his arms into her body, and life pulses through her veins once more. Aerie opens her eyes in time to see Magus collapse to the ground. He is barely breathing, and his skin is a sickly pale white. Aerie rushes over to him, but her healing spells are useless. Magus lies on the verge of death...
Sidenote: Sorry I changed so much. It's my fault I waited so long to check back. I know it's confusing, so in summary, here's what happened:
Waverly cast Abi-Dhalzim's Horrid Wilting 3x. Aerie was attacked by two invisible stalkers and a dragonling. Fallout rushed over to help Aerie. Trip-Wire cast domination on Waverly, which didn't work. Rail interuppted Waverly's second time-stop with a slash with a poisoned knife. The Abi-Dhalzim's Horrid Wilting made something snap in Magus, and he went berzerk (sort of). Void stood in horrid fascination. Waverly's contingencies then went off, including a teleport field that teleported Rail away, and moved Aerie only slightly. Trip-Wire and Rail rushed at Waverly, then halted when Magus started mysteriously killing Waverly. Then Aerie was slashed in the abdomen by the dragonling. Magus heard Aerie's scream, and left Waverly unconscious. He turned the dragonling to stone, and teleported over to Aerie. She died, and he revived her by giving her his energy. She awoke, and he fell down on the verge of death.
@Waverly: Your familiar isn't gone for good. It can be revived later.
@Rail: I'm sorry I took out your encounter with Void there. I tried to fit everybody's original actions in as much as I could, but in my version Void is supposed to be totally stunned. So he wouldn't have been able to stop you if you rushed Waverly...etc., etc. BTW, Waverly is still poisoned. Since Magus is unconscious, and Aerie's busy with him, you'll probably be the one to have to deal with it. Also, Void is just now coming back to his senses.
And finally...is this okay with everyone? I realize this is exceptionally high-handed. If anyone objects, by all means tell me. I'm hoping I didn't overstep any bounds, but if I did then it needs to be corrected. I apologize again for not checking back soon enough. Time for bed now...

@Seabass: Your friend Waverly has been engaged in battle in some unknown abandoned building in Athlatka. Melosh-tar is in Bodhi's crypts. Ubik, Omar, and Gruntboy are MIA. Weasel is wandering aimlessly through the Planar Sphere, I assume. That's the update on the evil party.
@Fallout: Cool. I'm still trying to break my hatred for redoing things to redo certain quests before I face Irenicus. I effectively lost all of my saved games except for the oldest one, so I'll have to redo some things.
@KidD01: Ok. I'll get your guy into the party as soon as I can, but the NPC's could be a problem. The good side is already overbalanced because of the evil party's desertions. You said Jaheira and Imoen were important to the development your character, so I really don't know what to do.

No problem, Magus, as always. We'll roll with this edition. I'm kinda bummed nobody had to stop me from killin' Waverly
(No offense, Wave), but I would rather stay on good terms with Void, so this version works.
BTW, the poison is typical assassin stuff. Waverly probably made his save (since everyone's saves are around 2), but he'd still be affected (half damage)and unable to cast spells for a few rounds. The plan was, I'd carve him up in those couple of rounds, if you hadn't gone berserk on us.
Oh, well.

Gruntboy wakes up. He has been on one of his famous week long benders (he thinks). After being forced to work really hard cleaning up the graffiti in the Planer Sphere, he decided enough was enough and spent his entire initial pay from Ubik on booze. The last things he remembers are a half-orc prostitute about mid-week and dancing with some sailors in the Five Flagons.
Luckily, no-one notices the various stains on his clothes because of the cloak of non-detection. He staggers off to find Ubik, with one hell of a headache.

I'm glad the "updated version" is all cool with everyone. And I see Ubik and Gruntboy have returned. Let's see,now the active members of the evil party include Waverly, Ubik, Gruntboy, Melosh-tar, and Seabass. The good party is composed of Magus and Void, Aerie, Rail, Aegis, Fallout, and Trip-Wire. It seems pretty balanced again, but adding in your NPC's, KidD01, would still throw it off unless the evil party gets more recruits.
@Rail: Your poison is non-fatal, then? Ok.
With the end of the battle, the good party surveys the damage. The dessicated wood of the building creaks around them, and it doesn't seem that the place will hold up much longer. The invisible stalkers lay dead at Fallout's feet. The hardy barbarian is battered, but unfazed. Aerie, completely healed, kneels over the prostrate form of Magus, next to the statue of Waverly's dragonling familiar caught in a ferocious snarl. Trip-Wire and Rail stand near Waverly's rigid form. They are badly hurt, and struggling to understand what just happened. Waverly's breathing is shallow, his face caught twisted in horror, and his eyes locked staring grotesquely at something terrible in the distance. The poison has run its course, but his continued existence yet remains questionable.
Void finally gather himself, and floats over to attend to his ill master. Aerie looks up at him anxiously, and a conversation seems to occur between them. She quietly nods, then she teleports Magus and herself to the safety of the Rift. Void's vaporeous figure turns to the others, and he observes each intently. He calmly awaits the inevitable onslaught of questions.
Sidenote: Somebody needs to minister to Waverly. He will remain comatose for some time.
@Aegis: Boy, it must suck to miss all of the action!
How about a quick teleport before you miss anymore?

Aegis returns to the abandoned building he had left every in. He saw a few scroch marks on the door, obviousy splash damage from a fight. A sly grin encompassed his faced. Suiting his new personna, he much enjoyed Waverly, and his craftiness. He slipped into the door, unseen by anyone in the streets. He entered the room where every one was. He saw Magus on the ground with Aerie drapped over him. He saw Waverly strapped to a chair, with a wound on his arm. He glanced casually to Void, another sly grin, which was returned.
He walked right to Waverly, and examined the wound. He saw small traces of poisin. He reached into a small pouch next to the hilt of his sword. He removed a small leaf, and applied it to the wound. Waverly's body spasmed as the herb cleaned the wound.
While he was back, he made no mention of the book he had taken from Ubik's library. He went straight to Magus's limp body. He bent over to examine the body. He checked for a pulse. He found a feint one. As he was checking Magus's body for wounds, and other such things, he deftly slipped his hand into one of Magus's many pouches, unseen by anyone, only Void knew of this action. Aegis removed a small object from the pouch. It looked like a talismen of some sort, perhaps a key to the Rift. He quickly pocketed it. Void grinned at Aegis theft, not saying anything, instead waiting to see how Magus would react when he discovered the talismen missing.
Aegis: He'll live. Keep him well, and his strength will return. In the meantime, a few curative spells would help aid him.
He stood back up, and began walking for the door. He passed by Waverly, withen a few inches. A small glint of metalic light shone for only a moments time. Aegis made another deft move. He cut one of Waverly's bondings.
Aegis: I have more buisness to attend to. Again, if I am needed send Void...
Aegis then left, the sly smile returning to his face. It was all coming togethor now...

@Rail: Nicely done, thanks for remembering my contingencies.
@Magus: Your lucky, If someone didn't get back soon I was going to finish Aerie...Still a fair enough outcome for 4 on 1.
Waverly unconsciosly refused to wake. Refused to open his eyes. The pain was distracting, but he was surprised to feel that he would live through the battle. His link with his familiar seemed to be broken. Surely the dragon left when he was commanded to...what went wrong? He felt Void's mind attempt to touch his own. He closed down his mind, but not before sending the creature a message, "Tell your master: I will break his mind before I kill him."
@Magus: go ahead an question me, just keep in mind I won't cooperate. You can have Aerie give me a sponge bath if you like

Then darkness took me, and I strayed out of thought and time
Omar's story progresses (time: after the battle between Waverly and the Goody Force)
Loth adresses Omar after his treatment in the alley.
---Lloth:"
And my boy, did you like it? I guess you did, so expect some more in the future. I don't have to remind you what happens if you fail me?"
---Omar(confused and exhausted):"I am just a lowly and lonely Drow male. How will I be able to succeed?"
---Lloth (angry):"Tell me you didn't forget what I told you? You know everything you should know; your f*cked up brains are just not capable of understanding what is really going on here! Just do as I say and play along with Ubik for now. It is that simple!"
---Omar:"But why me? There are plenty of other..."
---Loth:" DON'T BEGIN WITH THAT (CENSORED) SELF PITY AGAIN!!!! You are nothing for me! You hear me? NOTHING!!! You are my pawn, my slave and therefore you shall obey me! You live and die by my command and no (censored) fancy tattoo is going to change that! Be glad that I didn't punish you for your insolence; I know of things far worse then death!"
Omar instinctively puts his hand on the tattoo on his cheek. "That blasted Dabus and his worthless Tattoo Parlor! If I ever happen to be in Sigil again I will surely tattoo his entire (censored) body, oh yes I will!"
---Lloth:"What are you waitnig for now? Get your lazy butt moving, you dolt!"
---Omar: stealth
Omar leaves the alley and makes his way to the sewer entrance of the Sphere quickly. What began as an innocent adventure has turned into a matter of life and "worse things then death" for him now. He knew that he was at Lloth's mercy now and probably had been for Lloth knows how long! How foolish of him to think he could have outsmarted Lloth! If the tattoo had worked he would have been dead by now, but it didn't. And then there was the reward that Lloth had offered him if he were to be succesful. Certainly the only thing that kept him going after his desillusion with the tattoo and kept him from committing suicide.
---Omar:"Oh yes; and since I am nothing at all, Lloth might just as well reward me as punish me. If I please her enough then my life is not lost at all! Oh yes!"
Omar descends into the sewers.
To be continued...
Off note:
---the figurine is indestructible and has the dreadful boomerang effect, meaning that Omar won't be able to get rid of the thing forever Unless Lloth does something about it. This thing is not only intended for him but can be used against others; hopefully it will privide Omar with a valuable tool in his quest!
@Waverly: don't you dare die on us! The evil party is very short on members!
@Magus: if you have a heroes overload, why don't you send them to the upper room of the Crooked Crane one by one? Omar might solve your problem...

Okay, I hate to do this, but I had a really elaborate part here. My comp screwed up, and I lost it all. I don't feel like redoing it, so I'll give you the jist of it.
The Talismen I took from Magus was a key to shift to Anasalon. Once there, I made my way to Palathas, and the Tower there. I got into Raistlins lab, unbated couse magic was disspelled. I found the staff of Magius. It chose me as a new master. I'm now back in Athkatla.

@Magus, Rail: had a little trouble following both of you at the same time. There were a couple conflicts. Just a suggestion to everyone else… try to be tolerant of others manipulating your character a bit, even if it against your plans. I know we all would like to be invincible, but it's the only way to let the story progress- look at me I got nabbed by a familiar.
Waverly's Lucid Dreaming…
Midia: "You fool! Why did I waste my time with you? You are always going to be rash and reckless."
Waverly<confused since he cannot see her>: "You mock me from beyond the grave…how typical."
Midia continues in a whisper near his ear, Waverly can feel her breath on the back of his neck.
Midia: "You could have escaped during that spell, but instead...your anger will get you killed. Do not be in such a hurry to join me…I tired of your company long ago."
Waverly: "You always knew how to wound deeply…that cuts worse than this poison blade." He turns to face her but she vanishes and reappears behind him. He continues regardless, "You tire of me, yet you are still with me…"
Midia: "I left a piece of me with you, and what do you do? You call her into a hopeless battle like the arrogant fool that you are. Now she sits as pile of stone on the floor…all my gifts are wasted on you…" Midia looks almost as if she regrets her last words. She leans in toward Waverly as if to embrace him, but before they touch she vanishes. Waverly is left listening to the rush of blood through his own aching head.

Then darkness took me, and I strayed out of thought and time
@Waverly- it didn't seem right, since we are trying to use the same game rules, to make the poison fatal. In the game, you'd have made your save, but still taken half damage for a while. I just left it at that. You are an 18th level mage, after all.
Just some musings by an assassin.
"Damn mages!" Rail muttered to himself. He glanced up at fallout, and the barbarian shook his head in agreement, frowning to himself at the turn of events.
Aegis had just left for the second time. Ever since the strange change in the paladin, Rail felt like he couldn't be trusted. Paladins were at least predictable. This new Aegis was anything but. Maybe is wasn't even Aegis at all.
The assassin glanced up at Magus, lying at the feet of a worried Aerie. What was the man? Obviously, he was more than human. So seemed Aegis. Was the assassin surrounded by superhuman beings? Here he was, just a simple thief, a normal man with an exceptional skill at killing, especially killing mages, and he felt very alone. Not the usual feeling of working on his own, but the feeling of being alienated. As if he didn't fit. As if he was in the presence of evil. Not the evil of Ubik, but the evil of otherworldly beings medling in the affairs of normal humans.
Rail bent down to examine where Aegis had been with Waverly. He noticed the binds that were cut. Again, the thought came. Is this the same Aegis? A doppleganger, perhaps? Something wasn't right. Shaking his head, he repaired the binding.
He couldn't shake the feeling that his blade was soon going to be wet with the blood of several mages, and he feared who that would have to be. He also feared that joy that killing always seemed to bring of late. The rush he had gotten seeing his poison work in the evil Waverly. The rush he knew would come if he plunged his blade into his helpless neck, even now.
He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. He was NOT a monster! He wasnt! Not like that!
He looked around at his companions. Only the barbarian could truly have any semblance of trust from the assassin. The bard seemed normal, but was still a spellcaster. Magus was certainly out of the question, now, and so was Aerie because of her association with the mage. Aegis, if it was even Aegis any longer, was far gone, corrupted with his new found magical powers.
Then there was Void. Rail looked up and found the hakeashar staring at him from the other side of the room. "STAY OUTTA MY HEAD!" Rail said audibly. Fallout started slightly at the sudden outburst from the thief, and TripWire glanced questioningly in his direction.
But Void looked the most confused of all, if the hakeashar could have such an expression. For all of a sudden, the assassin's mind was closed. Void could read nothing.

Aegis spent the night in one of the many libraries in Athkatla. He sat in a large velvit chair, basking in the elequence of it all. After breif moments of relaxation, he withdrew another item he had aquired from the Tower in Palathas. Raistlin's own Spell Tome. He began to mull over the foreign spells located withen it's bindings. The spells native only to Anasalon. This would be a sure surprise for both Ubik, and Magus. A sly grin erupted on his face as he thought of how the others were reacting to this new him.
He continued to study the Black Mages Tome, all the while his sword loosened in it's scabbered, and the staff of Magius close by his side. This is where he stayed, mulling over the incantations. Learning them. Commiting them. Absorbing them. Soon, he would be a mage to rival both Magus and Ubik. His plans were coming to a fruition. Soon, the final act would be set in motion.

It seems all of the baddies have returned. That's good.
@Aegis: That's where I put that item! Been looking all over for that darned thing
BTW, curative items or magic will have no effect on Magus right now. I was returned to the Rift for a reason...which I will not disclose yet. And Assuming Void saw you cut Waverly's bindings, why did he let you endanger the party again? Do you have a reason? Normally he's manipulative, but not malicious.
@Omar: Have something mysterious of your own going, eh? I never thought Lloth would be so crude
@Waverly: Only a couple of conflicts?
I'm going to wait and see what Rail and Fallout do before I move on with questioning Waverly.
Aerie's teleportation spell brings them before the tower inside the Rift. She is kneeling over Magus. She seems...different. Somehow her figure no longer seems so timorous, and she has a familiar calmness about her. The familiar light yellow glow surrounds her, but is now tinged by another color...green, no blue. A vibrant light blue has mixed with the yellow. A nishruu comes to greet them, then sees Magus's limp form.
Words appear in Aerie's mind:What has happened to the master, lady? It seems genuinely concerned. Aerie begins to respond...
Then it senses the change in Aerie.
What trickery is this? You are not Aerie! What have you done to the master?
With that, it streaks towards Aerie. Aerie cannot possibly get to her feet and ready a spell in time. She braces for the touch of its cold fingers...
Suddenly, something surges inside of her. Her aura abruptly shifts to a pure ice blue flecked with green. She chants a spell she never knew, and the nishruu finds itself held motionless. Then, as abruptly as it changed, the aura reverts to the light green.
Astonished, the nishruu attempts to probe Aerie's mind. At its touch her aura briefly flares blue again. She effortlessly rebuffs it, and without thinking immediately counters with a psychic jab, sending streaks of pain through the nishruu's mind.
Forgive me, master. I didn't recognize you. it pleads.
Aerie stands confused, trying to recollect the last few moments. Her memory of them is interrupted and distorted. She wonders What's happening to me? Then she remembers Magus, and hurries over to him, totally forgetting everything else, including the frozen nishruu. She frets about how she will get Magus to his room, because she can't teleport into the tower. Abruptly, she knows she can now. Without pausing to think, she teleports them both there, leaving the nishruu paralyzed near the entrance to the tower. The unlucky nishruu is left to contemplate the strange meeting, and hope his master set a time limit on the spell...
