I need a good name for a Kensai

Post by EMINEM »

IIRC, Kensais originated from Japan, so I'm trying to think of an Japanese name to go with the portrait I just downloaded from Lady Nightshade. So far, I've come up with "Takashi," "Hubadai," and "Koja." Any suggestions will be welcome, but should reflect an Oriental upbringing.

Thanks in advance

Hey! I remember that name! He's a real historical figure, right? The greatest samurai in Japan's history? Sounds cool, but I don't wanna plagiarize. :)

Musashi Miyamoto really is a great name for a samurai...

If you want to go more humorous, you could go with Daniel'son (like Karate Kid).

Otherwise, you could go to http://www.firstsightings.com/Anatomy.html which shows the names of the different parts of a samurai blade. I kind of like 'Tachi'

Hope this is useful.URL=http://www.firstsightings.com/Anatomy.html ]http://www.firstsightings.com/Anatomy.html

You can't plagarize history, you can only plagarize somebody elses work.

To Eminem:

I would not worry about plagarizing a name for your player protaganist. I'm sure there are some protaganists with names of Uther Pendragon or Merlin etc out there. :)

What about Ryutaro Mizumo. Or Ichido Sekkasi

To Parek:

Isn't seppuku the name for ritual suicide commited by a Samurai once they failed to uphold their code of life and disgraced their lord? Suppuku was also the more honorable way of death allowed for the samurai instead of the lord just cutting the offenders head off.

My half-orc kensai is called "Shotokan"; it has a nice sort of slashing/chopping ring to it. I think shotokan is a branch of Karate.

other good names could be Tairo, Kodama, Shinkansen..
