@Drakron: Port meets Liverpool in the next round.
I have no idea any Japanese football (because it wasn't even there when I left Japan to begin with ), so I support Premiership... Except Man Utd, of course.

Surely you must feel something for them????
Hidetoshi Nakato.....great player....
I used to support Man United....then I realised that I didn't really feel anything for them.......now I've supported Middlesbrough FC for a couple of years.....
This season looked so good for them.....great new players...and old ones......but they have really disappointed so far....in both Cups and in the League

@fallout- What's the latest on Jardel? Is he gonna be sold back to Portugal, namely to Benfica? Benfica can hardly pay their taxes. They better stick to Van Hooijdonk.
re:European competitions- Well I guess English fans have alot to cheer about now, eh? Good shows from every English team so far, but now is when it's starting to get interesting and challenging. Of course with the premiership all but handed over to ManU, this is the best chance for the others to focus on Europe. Can't say the same for Real and their compatriots, though, because Spain is still pretty wide open. I think the FA must have its sights on the European competitions first and foremost, and rightly so, because Eriksson chose a very versatile 31-man squad for the friendly against Spain to rest as many players as possible in the next few weeks. Good thinking.

@Karembeu: I am happy to see Japan's national team doing well (they are the Asian champion now, you know ) and good luck to them. But I only get the result here, and if I watch the match in a pub, it's either England or Scotland games.
I support England Rugby team as well...

I've never seen the "beauty" of cricket or rugby......guess being half-english doesn't mean that I have to......
When I went to school in england I tried both....I kind of fancied cricket rather than rugby.......

@Karembeu: 3 sports I don't miss are Rugby, formula 1, and snooker. I like cricket... It's very English because it's so about and reluxing.
I have 2 younger sisters. And our main conversation was not fashion, not music not even boys, but always sports. My youngest sister is a stable girl now in Japan. My mum once said, "Conversation between father and daughter is horse racing... I don't think that's right..."

Well Formula 1 is the only motor-sport that I follow......it's got speed and excitement though it's a bit boring that the competition isn't that good.....either McLaren or Ferrari win.....
I completely agree with cricket being "English"......it's very posh and the in between tea-break sort of makes things even more "English".......
As for horseracing I don't really follow that....had some bad experiences with horses during my youth.....

@Karembeu: Tea! Yes! I laughed a lot when I first saw that.
I used to be a baseball fun and I went matches many times. It seems long, long time ago now. Problem is, all of us support different teams. So imagine, when games are on. And unlike football, each baseball teams play 130 matches per season in Japan (+ The Japan Series if they win the league)...

Baseball huh???? Well now that's one sport that I don't follow......I guess Sweden aren't that good at it.....we play a similar game called softball and a game similar to English rounders called "brännboll" (means burnball) .....
Only baseball I watch is during the Summer Olympics when I want Cuba to win.....especially when they play against U.S.A......
What do you think of "land-hockey"?????

Heh heh, yes, good result for England and especially for Eriksson. Maybe that'll shut up his critics. Finland game will be the true test though, since it counts. I was glad to see Seaman left off the team, a figment of England's old crappy defense. That was their biggest problem. I didn't watch the game so I can't comment on it really, but from the reports I've read it seems like it did have alot to do with Eriksson's selections. He's the best thing to happen to the FA.
