Good party seems to enjoy sick fun..

Post by Waverly »

It seems that the NPC's tendency to give feedback whenever your reputation changes has some unintended consequences. I did the following with a rep. of 18 and a party full of good aligned NPC's:

While exploring the drow city, I found the platform of the exploding slaves. Curious I pay 100 gold to see what happens. POP!
Valygars: Hehe, this group does good things.
OK, how about another...
Minsc: We are all heroes, you and I and boo...
Imoen: Now I remember why travelling with you is such fun
Another 100; POP!
Aerie: I am so glad you brought me with you.

Mwahaha. Do these guys have a sick sense of fun or what!?

After every reputation change, the game seems to check wether your NPCs are content with the current reputation. However, the game doesn't take into consideration which reputation your party had before the change. After every change the NPCs give their opinion on the current status and, since good characters are still happy with a reputation of 17, these illogical reactions are expressed. In the same manner, an evil NPC should be happy when the reputation goes from, say 17 to 16, but he's not.

That's doesn't seem to be entirely true, Astafas. It seems to be the case here, but on most other occasions when I have tried extreme evil, someone pipes up with:
"I thought we were better than this" or something similar.

that sounds a lot like Nalia. if your rep. for ex. drops from 11 to 10 I think Korgan right after begins talking to you and he is very joyful about the situation.

Korgan would have been downright giddy at the slave platform then Image Perhaps Viconia would be so overcome she would get orgasmic. I will have to pick them up for an evil only expedition.

But when you do something extremely evil, doesn't that imply a major rep change, thus putting your NPC from the happy category to the neutral or unhappy ones? But there may also be some predetermined reactions for certain situations. For example, I remember Jaheira being quite dissatisfied when I once paid for the dogfight in CC (resulting in one dead dog for my "pleasure") although, if I'm not mistaken, there was no rep loss.
