Planescape:Torment, doesn't help your other problem much though :D
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

I loved Planescape:Torment. I also love the BG-series, and Diablo II.

Long ago, I loved the old SSI Gold box game, especially the Pool of Radiance series. But most of you here are to young to have played them ;)

But I'm a really bad source of information, I haven't played many CPG:s in my life. I found Warcraft II too easy, you learned an effective strategy too fast.

@MM: You like Planescape? Two things we can agree about ;) :D

Favourite Game: Baldur's Gate
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Sorry! :o I didn't check the "Anatomy..." thread, I thought I was the only one old enough to even remember them... ;)

yep, I remember 'em as well-- I finished all the gold box games. My first was Champions of Krynn on my c64. Great games!
Pirates! was cool, too.

I still remember getting killed in my first fight by about 5 hobgoblins! I didnit realise that one sleep spell could finish them all off. Now that's real gaming! Horrid wilting and timestops? Bah

In no particular order:

1) Unreal Tournament: Best first-person shooter ever created in my opinion.
2) StarCraft: Best RTS in my opinion, great story too.
3) Baldur's Gate 2: Need I say more?
4) Heroes of Might and Magic: The reason why I like turn-based stragety now.
5) Homeworld: I just love this game!!!
6) Diablo 1: IMO, better than D2.

Although I am only 15, I too have played the GoldBox games thanks to Abandonware websites. My favorites are Pool of Radiance and Eye of the Beholder. The one thing I don't like old-school RPGs is that they are all first person with a very limited freedom to move. I think Baldur's Gate is a great improvement using the isometric view instead of first person.

To choose one of these as my all time favourite would be a disservice
Here goes... (and in no particular order)
Exile 3/Blades of Exile
The SSI Gold Box games
Eye of the Beholder
Pirates!
Civilization
Wizball
BG2
Bard's Tale
Wizardry 7
Moonstone
International Test Cricket
Barbarian
Paper Boy

Hmm, so that's where the years have gone!

The Sid Meier games?

If I seem a bit ignorant of PC games, it is because I only just started playing PC games this year... :(

My favourite...
BG series

And for FPS I like Unreal Tournament

But then like Sailor Saturn, I don't have that many games, so it's hardly much of a recommendation ;)
