Magus, sorry I misunderstood. I went back and redid it. Got the same thing you did.
Maybe copy both .gam and .sav files to a new folder (make a new one) then reinstall. Otherwise you would have to de compile both files to get them in a readable and changeable format and change some true statements to false. (to get your quests back) that would require a different program to do it.
Maybe a dumb question, did you do a defrag?

Yes, I did a defrag. After that, you lost me. All of my quests still seemed to be there. In my first game, I hadn't defeated Bodhi, but in my second game I had. I overwrote the first game's baldur.sav over the second's, and my quest log said I had defeated Bodhi.

Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
Ok, for me in my auto-save I finished the D'Arnise quest, in the Quick-save I didn't, I overwrote the QS with the AS and the quest was done with the hold looted even though my characters didn't have any of the loot from there. Sometimes I can be sooo dense

Hmm...so the bottom line is: Will overwriting the baldur.sav file of my current game with an old one cause any game problems besides the unexplored areas? Characters aren't affected, their equipment isn't affected, and quests aren't affected. That's most of what's important. The only truly bad thing is that I horde items in a treasure chest in the Planar Sphere, so I'll lose some of those from the other game (but I could go back and put those in my bag of holding
) Can you think of anything else that could be affected? Romances are one. And people might still think I have quests for them. Hopefully Bodhi will remain dead
so I can go to Suldanessar.

Thank you, Idldrgn1. I will give this information to the gurus at TeamBG and Interplay before trying to play through like this. But just think...we invented a new hack! You can kill Kangaxx, take his ring, switch your baldur.sav files, and kill him again, take his ring, repeat...
I'll have to patent it!

Your welcome though I think you did pretty much all of it yourself.
Shhh, don't tell Bioware, they might write a patch,

restoring saved game files
Lots of interesting info in this thread, but I didn't see a way to fix the problem I'm having with saved games. Here's what I did.
1) played BG II on computer 1 about six months ago. Have 35+ saved games.
2) got new computer (computer 2). Installed BG II and latest patch.
3) Copied save dir from computer 1 to computer 2.
4) On computer 2, none of these files show up in the load game dialog box.
5) Just for the fun, I've got some really old saved games files from computer 1. When I moved hese to computer 2, they actually show up on load game dialog, and they load! So I know I am putting the files in the correct directory.
6) I tried using the really old saved game directories, and replacing the .sav and .gam files with the newer ones. The files show up in the load game db, but BG II hangs when trying to load. It does not like the newer old saved games files.
7) Am I missing some required other files for the later saved games? I replaced Characters with the newer one. Maybe something from overrides dir needs tweaking?
8) Shadow Keeper 2.1.4 can't open the .sav files, says they must be later than 2.0
Any ideas on how to get BG II to load my previous games? Thx for any help.
