Unseeing Eye Quest Error.

Post by Mortalibus »

For some reason in my game, when I got the second part of the rod the Unseeing Eye creature never turned up to fight me. I found out later that it was supposed to, but now I have no saves before that time and I don't think I can finish the quest.

Now I can still give the unused rod to the God to destroy it, but can someone please tell me the items and experience I'm missing out on here? It's got to be a lot with the killing of the eye, the temple return, etc. I have already resigned myself to the fact that I can't do the quest. Unles there's a "Do quest" or "summon Unseeing Eye creature" cheat I can use of something.

Happened to a friend of mine, too. Couldn't figure it out. Searched the whole map, but wasn't there. We reloaded and did the map again, and he showed up that time. Still no idea why that happened.

What about the guy in the temple of Helm? I think he was going to give me some sort of item, or am I remembering wrong?

Also, I have a theory. When the words popped up when I got the rift I paused. Then the words disappeared before I unpaused. Maybe that sort of cancelled the unseeing eye appearing bit. I even tried putting it back and doing it again, but it didn't work. I hate cheating, but can you get a rift rod half from it? Maybe if I put the seconds piece in and took it out again the eye would appear? Oh and the rod is really weak, isn't it? Since I couldn't kill the UE I tried it on others. It didn't even kill that scrawny beggar guy in the room by the coffin. And he is killable; I checked.

Mortalibus, we also paused at the same time, and the UE never came. Sounds like there was some sort of bug there. Does anyone know if the patch fixed that? We had the luxury of reloading, though.

No need to start all over. Simply go up to Gaal again and the Unseeing Eye will be right behind him! He's hostile from start so keep your newly aquired rod at hand.

This has happened to me two times. The second time, the beholder actually was there and managed to wipe out one of my party members before I could kill him with the rod. I reloaded (I know, you really shouldn't, but...) and he was gone!

Gaal thing didn't work. Probably because I never talked to him even when I only had a piece of the rod. This was because that stupid Sasser told me not to. He's not hostile. He says "Do you have the artifact?" I say YES YES YES but my only option to realy say is "no, I don't." "Too bad, how say" he says (sort of), so then I kill him with it, but there's still no unseeing eye. Nice girdle though. I even tried going back through all the passages again. I wish I had an old save - no quest for me. Image

Excellent news. I started killing everyone in the UE compound and the UE itself appeared. I guess you'd be annoyed too if someone was running around killing all your followers. So now I can complete the quest, yay!

Sorry, I should have told you that Gaal and his fellow cultist weren't hostile til you attacked them. Glad it worked out for you anyway!
