What Do They Put in MacDonalds' Hamburgers?
I dislike Mac's food, but look at it this way: nearly anything they could possibly use as a filler would be more expensive than the absurdly low beef prices they have worked out due to their volume.
So, they might poison you if they could do it more cheaply.... but they can't

Then darkness took me, and I strayed out of thought and time

I'm not terribly good at math. What is 60% more of 5%? And does it matter a lot?I have seen a Burger King advert that says their burgers have 60% more beef than Macdonalds...

It would be 3% more.Originally posted by fable:

1% = 20%
2% = 40%
3% = 60%
4% = 80%

@Weasel, thanks. Yes, that makes sense. I tend to avoid figuring percentages--fractions may dress down, but they're a bit more honest.
When I'm in the mood for fast food, I generally do Wendy's, in any case. I think they're in the upper spectrum of quality for this lower spectrum stuff.

Yes Wendy's is one of the better places (If not the best).

So did I, but my teachers were too late: I'd already discovered the beauty of literature, and all their attempts to shove the worst titles down my throat, complete with the "proper" analysis, simply failed. Even Silas Marner, and a dry-as-dust 9th grade teacher who failed anybody that couldn't define a gerund, didn't work.Math I liked in school..English I hated.

Oh, it does, it does: I know what you mean. It wasn't enough to read whatever they threw at you, it had to be *interpreted* in precisely the dry, academic way they wanted. Anything else was both rebellion, and just plain wrong.I didn't enjoy reading till after school...in college. I always felt like they (In school) were forcing me to read the book their way..(I don't know if this makes sense)

I once told one of my teachers that maybe William Golding had just put all that imagery into Lord of the Flies cos it sounded cool, not because it had some kind of deep meaning...
He produced a later article that William Golding had written, saying, in essence, that once the author has written a book, it has whatever significance the reader attaches to it.
Foiled!

Who, me?!?
You guys are talented I'll give you that. Starting off a thread about what's in burgers and bending it around to the inward prisonisation of views and values that are projected onto the students through their high school literature education.
And yea Georgi, I just added all those big words to make it sound cool

Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Hey, you should see us break-dancing to 16th century galliards while quoting Sonny & Cher scripts in Latin. We're the joy of the Trans-Alpine Monastery set.You guys are talented I'll give you that. I've just found this website:
http://www.mcspotlight.org/
It's called McSpotlight, and is devoted to fury at McDonald's lack of concern for decent nutrition and the environment. Lots of attitude, and plenty of fun.
