Breathing Space...

Post by Yshania »

Posted by T'L in another thread -

Hi again everyone..just another plea for rational, civil responses here. No flaming, inappropriate comments etc.
I agree with T'L. We were all props for each other last night - it was the busiest I had seen this board in months and it really warmed my heart, but we shouldn't forget the forum rules....and the fact that we are a multinational community here and things could get very easily out of hand. This is not directed at anyone, there just seems to be quite a few new threads raging and pointing fingers...

I do not envy T'L and Mr Sleep at the moment... :)

Take it easy all...it will be impossible for all of us to stay rational at the moment :(

I thought I would create this topic for a bit of breathing space...I really do not want to get involved in the other threads just yet as I feel too emotional about it all to stay impartial...

This is space to chat generally. Of course we will discuss the recent tragedy - it is on everyones mind at the moment but I would respectively ask that any serious debating about specifics be redirected to one of the other threads...can we please just chat and spam and take it easy in here, staying sympathetic to all of our friends out there.

Thank you! :)

I will start by welcoming all you guys that visited us for the first time yesterday under such tragic circumstances. I hope you found some solace in here and will be back soon to chat :D

Been a bad year for you, huh, DP? Glad you're here.

I'm not going to take the time to read every thing -- did we hear from Waverly?

The breathing space is nice as a great deal of threads surrounding this tragedy are becoming heavy.

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to all those who have lost people close to them. Now more than ever, we need to come together as a people.

It took until this morning to realize I was more closely affected to this tragedy than I thought, on two notes, one bad and one lucky.

For the bad, turns out the gentlemen who works the exit gates at the parking ramp where I work lost his son yesterday at the WTC. I speak to this man briefly every evening after work, on my way out. A security guard in the building, whom I know, informed of this sad news this morning. I don't know what to say to him tonight when I see him. I was told he is working today.

For the good, turns out one of my good friends from college had recently taken a job there and was spared. Fortunately, he wasn't there. Another friend of mine told me this morning and that he traveleled to the southern states on monday.

I also read another story how a young man had changed his flight plans yesterday morning at logan Int'l airport. He was supposed to fly out on flight 11, I believe. Can you imagine how overwhelmed this person must be?

Hopefully, we can all take comfort in the fact that there are still many who were spared this tragedy who could've just as easily been there yesterday morning.

This seems a lot more real today than yesterday.

@Ned - re your good news you must be so relieved :)

Re your sad news, I am sorry to hear that. It is difficult to know what to say to people in this situation..the sad thing is he is so very well aware that he will be one of thousands that have lost a friend or family member. His son is a sad statistic.

I would just say that I was sorry to hear his news, that would give his son an identity in the face of this catastrophic loss... :(
