Windspear Hills and what chapter

I want to defect the red dragon so what chapter are you suppose go down to the windspear hills and defect him I would try on chapter one or two and get my butt whipped

Do you mean to say "defect" to the red dragon, or are you asking to "defeat" him? Either can be done, and it is up to you as to when. You need to speak to Firkragg first in the Copper Coronet. Probably be done somewhere around half way through the quests in chap 2/3. Check other threads fro dragon beating strategies.
