bag of holding
bag of holding
2 questions about it.
First, is there more then 1 bag of holding in the game? Is it possible to buy it or do you just find it as treasure. I have found 1 so far and was wondering if there are more out there.
Second, shouldnt it be called "bottomless and weightless bag of holding" since it seems that I can put just about anything in it no matter how heavy, big, or ugly it is.
Thanks for your help

There is only one...
The bag can hold a set number of items for a given weight (the weight of the bag). Not sure of the number of items it can hold - I put arrows in there and filled it up.
You cannot put certain items in - game critical ones or armour to name just 2.

Are you sure of that?
I am 100% sure I was able to put different types of armor in it. Hell, i am in underdark right now and i am storing all my old equipment in the bag while i use drow equipment. If there is a limit on items then it must be pretty high cause I could empty my main's character's inventory as well as Minsc's and some other random items from various party members

I tried to put full plate in there and it said no. Maybe leather and chain fits.
I put 120 arrows in there and nothing else would fit!!!

In PnP AD&D, the bags of holding have a weight limit, but in BGII they just have a number limit. I have never encountered anything that I couldn't put in the bag. Obviously, using the bag to hold arrows is silly (Gruntboy), because you can stack 40 arrows in one slot in your inventory.

I've had no problem putting every and anything in my Bag of Holding. I just entered the Underdark and I, too, am holding all my old surfacer armor in it while I enjoy the great +5 Drow armor.
I think I read somewhere that you get 20 slots in the bag regardless of weight.
The only time I get "you can't put that in there" messages is when I try to put "special" jewels in my Gem Bag.
The one thing I thought was really wonderful about the special holding cases was the fact that I could put any type of paper or book in my Scroll Cases. I'd rather carry spells there, but it's nice to be able to put those extra notes, books and other things that I seem to collect in there for temporary holding.

Gruntboy, you might want to remove the arrows and then store your armor. It could be counting the arrows individually. Or, depending on which kinds you have, you might have filled it up by having several different groups of arrows.
I know I keep several sets of plate mail stored in mine while on the Underdark quests.
Too bad they didn't include a bag of devouring. You could take it to the Planar sphere and stuff those halflings in it.

It seems like the bag counts each arrow as an item not as a bundle. Try to avoid putting large quantities of stackable items inbecause it wastes the space. The jewels that open the "monster portal" in the asylum are the only things I couldn't put in the bag.

Gruntboy being silly?!? What will the world come to?
I have put in over 35 different items without filling up the bag, but it does seem to count arrows separately, since I can easily fill it with arrows.

I used ShadowKeeper to give myself a bag of holding at the beginning of the game. When I received the bag of holding from Spellhold, they both seem to draw from the same pool of items. Basically, I could access the items in my first bag of holding from my second bag. You didn't get another "extradimensional space" to store stuff. Wasn't worth the confusion, so I dumped the second bag.
