slow monk

Post by Hazim ibn Gorion »

At about level 11 (I don't think it happened right on the level-up) my monk slowed down. Now he just walks the same speed as everyone else. I tried with and without the patch with no luck. Anybody have any ideas on this one...anybody?

@Hazim... where have you been?? It's been awhile Image

As for your question .. have you tried removing the Monks equipment and seeing if this helps. From reading the info on the patch I couldn't see anything on the walking speed being affected either way.(Before or after the patch)

Nice to see you back. Image

I haven't heard of this one. He should be getting faster, not slower. Do you have him wearing Boots of Speed? When he becomes immune to slow he also becomes immune to haste.

This is obvious, but...
Are you sure he isn't encumbered? Otherwise, the boots of speed is also a good comment.

Tried all that. He never wore the boots of speed. He's not encumbered. I stripped him down to his skivvies to see if it was something he was carrying or had on...nothing.

Actually, he's not moving slowly; he's just moving at the normal rate, instead of the increased rate he should be.

Any other ideas?

Surprisingly, this happened to my character in BG1, sort of. He was a Ranger, but he had boots of speed and then suddenly they just stopped working for him. If I put them on someone else they worked, but on him they were useless. I can't remember quite when it happened but it WAS strange.

I have heard of this bug before. The problem might resolve when the monk is supposed to increase in speed on the next level up, or you might have to restore it with Shadowkeeper, a saved game editor. You can get it from mudmaster.com.

I have had this bug before. My monk didn't loose her movement rate when she gained a level, she lost her movement rate after haste-spell ended. I know monks are supposed to be immune to haste/slow-spells but that white foot-figurine appears to my monk's portrait when I cast haste to my party. I used shadowkeeper to change the movement rate permanently and after that she gained bonuses to her movement normally.
