On her way, Loner passed a small makeshift camp. She hesitated. What would Brink do? she asked; considering it wasn't within town limits...However, she figured anything could be considered suspicious under recent circumstances; and it might be someone in need of help...so she rode over at a walk...and found Kramor sleeping.
She gasped. He shouldn't be up and about yet. Did Blue let him go?...She walked over a few paces -- then stopped.
Let it go, leave him be, the voice within said; and for once, she decided to obey it. So she rode off again, and arrived at her destination, to be greeted by a smiling Aaron.

Darkpoet slipped a large envelope, under Ms. T's door. It was a signed document, saying she was the rightful owner of his goldmine. Darkpoet got on his horse and rode out of town at a gallope. In an hours time he caught up with Kramor.
"Marshall, hope my boys didn't hurt you too badly."
"Don't worry Captain, I'll heal. Where are you heading?"
"Over to Fort Worth, to get my uniform, then I head out to Colorado Territory. You?"
"Santa Fe, I'm turning in the badge, I can't focus to do my job. I think, I'll go back to my parents land and raise horses."
"Well, I be seeing you then. Adios."

Kramor turned in his badge, headed back to his ranch. He figured that it would need some fixen. When he got there, he looked the place over. Most of the buildings where in good shape, if he needed surplies, town was not too far away. Kramor wonder how Loner and Gigi, were doing other than hating him. He started working on getting the corals, cleaned up.
"How's the Marshal?" Loner asked Aaron.
"Gone, I'm afraid," he replied. "Just up and left this morning without so much as a word."
"Can you blame him?" she asked, looking straight into his eyes.
Aaron's face went white. Loner then knew, Kramor had been right, and her heart sank.
"I trusted you," she said. "Why did you do this? I cannot believe it was jealousy, so you can save that excuse. I just can't understand why on earth you would team up with your mortal enemy. You hate that man."
Aaron looked at her with baleful eyes. "I'm sorry," he said. "But there's more going on here than you realize, and I...can't explain it to you. I will tell you this: it's not what you think about me. I'll leave, and I won't be coming back, don't worry."
Then he jumped onto his horse and rode off.
Loner would deal with him later. She rode off to the place she had seen Kramor before, and he wasn't there. If I know him at all, there's only one place he would go,, she thought, so she headed toward the ranch...

As Kramor finished cleaning the barn, he heard a rider coming in fast. He grabbed his rifle and ran outside. Dp was riding like the devil himself was chasing him. As Dp pulled up, jumping off his and pulling his rifle out of the boot.
"Kramor, you have a passle of rustlers comin your way."
Dp turned and opened fire, dropping two fo them out of their saddles. Kramor started shooting, knocking down two others.
"Just can't keep out of the action, eh DP?"
Dp smiled and shot another.
"Nope, never could. You know you are going to have to talk to the Sheriff, now."
Kramor frowned and shook his head.
"As soon as I walk in that office, she would kill me."
Kramor shot another off his horse. Bullets clipped all around them, as the rustlers fired back.
"So why are you here?"
"I felt you might be needing some help."
Kramor just shook his head, and shot another rustler. Then they heard them ride off.

When the action at the ranch had died down, and Darkpoet had gone, Loner arrived at Kramor's ranch.
The sun was just setting and he was outside finishing up his work for the day. Loner took a deep breath and rode over to him.
"You just keep breaking out of the hospital, don't you?" she said, dismounting and tethering the horse. "I have something to tell you. I confronted Aaron, and he admitted to betraying you, and he's gone."

"You saying you want to work with me, Kramor?"
Loner turned and leaned against the fence beside her. "I'm not sure where to go from here, my friend. I know you think I hate you; I don't. I'm a complete fool, but I still want to be with you. I have to tell you, though, I'm terrified. I'm terrified of what will happen when you see her again. I was right the last time." She shook her head. "Can you live in town with both of us there? Can I live with knowing you might be thinking about her all the time? Wondering if it's really over between you?...Help me out here, Kramor..."

Loner stood for a moment, reduced to a state of complete mindlessness. When she regained the power of speech, she said:
"I hope you mean this...and I would love for you to work with me."
By now it was getting dark. "I have a long ride back," Loner said, then leaned close to Kramor's ear, and whispered, "but I don't want to leave..."
