Kangaxx is frustrating!! Help me please

Post by elephantman »

I'm fighting the lich when he is in demi-lich form (the floating skull). there is no way to defend the imprisonment spells so how does one defeat him. I've tried the strategy guides section but they don't work. i try to leave when the imprisonment spell is in works but it always gets me before i leave. He is right at the entrance.

my party has +3 or greater weapons (holy avenger, halberd +4, flail of ages, etc). i've hasted them, used protection from evil, give them strength 25, chant, bless, etc.

Nothing is working. please assist me.

thanks.

Use sunray (lvl 7 spell) it will kill almost all undead instantly... If you don't have a high enough priest you can use Daystar ( long sword) look on equipement section to find it!!

1)Whack him with Mace of Distruption +2, preferably with Minsc, a berserker, or Aerie (with Spell Immunity: Abjuration).

2)Use Spell Immunity: Abjuration and Melf's Minute Meteors.

3)Buy a Protection from Magic scroll from Ribald (not magic resistance, the one that erects the globe of anti-magic). Stand Keldorn/paladin with Holy Avenger and whack away. Use a mage with Melf's Minute Meteors to kill him quicker.

4) Use Spell Trap (from Staff of Magi or scroll, as you won't be this high level to cast it from your spell book) and Melf's.

IIRC, Daystar cannot hit him, and Sunray will distrupt him, but not damage him.

For this effective, albiet cheap means to defeat him you'll need: 1 scroll of protection from magic from ribald's shop, 1 thief with good trap setting abilities (Yoshimo is good), and the ring of the ram. Set up to 5 or more traps in the far corner of the tomb (sleep if neccessary), Once you kill his normal lich form, occupy him with a fighter protected by the scroll and he'll futily try and imprison you. Next step is to hit him with the ring of the ram from the opposite corner of the tomb from where the traps were set. It will damage him and knock him back into the traps. Mission Accomplished

When u encounter these kinds of insane battles, try the WAND OF WONDERS, i got the demi-lich form kangaxx petrified instantly! :D (u have to be lucky though~)
Of course, spell immunity Abjuration on your mage and let him/her take all the imprisonment.

Its pretty easy. You just get 2 rings of the ram (pickpocket one from Tolgerias and get the second later on when you kill him). 2 hits from a ring of the ram, and he's dead. Plus, its direct damage, no save so he can't defend against it. Cheers.

Kill him in his normal lich form (shouldn't be too difficult) then after he has transformed into the demi-lich state, use a scroll of protection from undead on your main fighter and start hacking away (Note - weapons must be +4 or better to hurt him and try and make sure the rest of your party is out of sight).

2 hits from a ring of the ram, and he's dead.
I have 2 rings of tbe ram too. But I never could directly kill him. He always ended up between "Badly Injured" and "Near Death". Does it matter who use the rings? Or are you just playing in the easy mode?

I'm playing core AD&D rules, so its not that. It may be that before nailing him with the rings I almays got a few hits in while he was doing nothing. There is a brief period between the time he appears in skull form and when he actually begins casting spells. Its right before the little animation of him rising from the dead finishes completely that hes most vulnerable.

By the way, I've had a rather unsetteling experience. I was playing through the Planar Sphere the other day and I swear I saw one of the little cannibal halfling mages cast something called a "fingertatoo." There was even a little spell effect of a demonic hand above the mage. The hand wiggled its fingers a bit, and was gone. Can anyone tell me what the hell that was??

Protection from Magic scrolls you buy from Ribald is the easiest way. If you like to save those for later (and you really won't need them again), use Spell Immunity and set it on abjuration, it'll last long enough for the fight.

Kangaxx is so easy to kill once you know how. Usually I summons a wizards eye in front of him to take the imprissonment. Keeping two three extra scrolls just in case the first one would disapear. The I let one guy use sling of everard, a paladin (if I have one) holy avenger and maybe adding staff of magi or staff of rynn to that. mefls minore also works nice.

So you have seen the tatoo of power thing? I actually have no idea what that is. some sort of sequencer spell maybe? The cowled wizards use it too.

Kangaxx is so easy I am actually flipping a coin to see who gets the kill credit this time. I try to let my party share credit for some major kills, like I managed to get firkraag with a feeble mind spell, and jan got him with the clelestial fury. took a while, but it croaked.

spell immunity, and melf minute meteors. too easy....
They call me Darth...

I just killed him yesterday. Used Korgan, just make him go berserk and run him right up next to Kangaxx. He'll take the Imprisonment for you. Then it's just a matter of kicking his ass, er, floating head. I took Keldorn with Carsomyr and Minsc with that +4 two-handed sword you can buy from Ribald's secret stash. They killed him right as Korgan's berserk state ended. (Needless to say, he ended up under ground but my party gave him a round of applause after freeing him for his great work)
