Kangaxx and strategies
Where is kangaxx. I am in ch5 Underdark.
Looking at strategy guides it seems people asume you have these magical weapons to make battles simple or happen to be 15 lvl when fighting red dragon with lots of high lvl spells.
I think some of these strategies need to be realistic.
(though no strategy that works is a bad one!)

Hi y'all
Kangaxx is in the basemnent in the docks district. You have to get his bones from the sewers in the temple district, and a basement in the bridge district.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

There are 2 romes under athkatla that house large coffins in the middle and have flashing globe torches...both coffins have the two arrows that make up a circle on them telling you to click them.
oncw clicked the game will spawn an elemental lich (efreeti summoning, fire shields, fire ball, acid arrow) or a shade lich (shadows and so forth i think)
anyway they are quite harder than normal lichs but use a mage killing strategy and in no time they die, once dead you get some gold bones to take back to kangaax.
the shade lich is under the temple dfistrict and you will have to go through the room to do the unseeing eye quest for gaal (only way to get in to the room). The elemental lich is under the bridge district somewhere (near the entrance to shandalars and twisted rune door)
Kangaax is really easy to take down
just do the normal lich killing proccedure (you had some practice on the elemental and shade so it shouldnt be a worry . Then when he demilichs have a abjuration spell immunity mage melfs minute missile him to death (1 damage a hit) slow yet effective, you should try ring of the ram as well (can have 2 if you play togerious "mage in gov district" right) also traps are good you wouldnt have yoshimo now so id rule that out i dont think normal traps work. so minute missiles and spell immunity works 95% of the time...the other 5% is when you forget to upgrade the immunity and find your self naked to the inprisonment.

when i solo-ed i casted protection from undead on myself.
The biggest problem was toi get a +4 weopon (that's needed to hit him) nut the firetotth (ToB crossbow) will do.
So a few minutes later i got my self a brand new Ring Of Gaxx (one of the best items in the game IMO)

I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
You could try the Mace of Disruption (up for grabs in Chapter 3). I whacked Kangaxx with the Improved Mace of Disruption, and he died in two blows. Maybe you don't even have to upgrade the damn thing (which is not so easy).
Alternatively, save up 30K gold and buy Vhailor's Helm and a Scroll of Protection from Magic. Have the clone use the (cloned) scroll on you. Now you're totally immune.

OK, here are the spoilers and the way how I smacked Kangaxx EASILY yet again:

First, you need Kangaxx's arms and legs and Kangaxx's torso. There are 2 spots where these are: 1 place is in the Unseeing Eye part of sewers, where the Sassar is (on the way down to Amaunator Temple). In the sarcophagus there is one lich with one part(s). Another lich is in Bridge District, near the Twisted Rune hideout, also near there is the place where you did the "Buried Tirdir" quest. The door to lich (as well as to Twisted Rune) is trapped though, disarm it first. I aint going into lich killing ways, it is't hard;
Second, Kangaxx. You take the bones to him, he is in Docks District near the Mae'Var guild hall. Mind the trapped door again. You need to kill Kangaxx 2 times, first in his lich form and then in the demilich form. Latter is more peskier.. In any case, here as the buffs used by me on the party:
Bless;
Chant;
Defensive Harmony;
Resist Fire/Cold;
Haste;
Draw Holy Might (main char cavalier, Anomen);
Weapons used by the party:
Carsomyr +5 (main char cavalier);
Sling of Everard +5 (Jaheira, bought from Deidre in Adventurer's Mart (bonus CD merchant));
Azureedge axe (Minsc, axe wasn't much of use against demilich tho);
Flail of Ages +3 (Anomen, useless against demilich);
Sling of Seeking +2 (Aerie, useless weapon in this case);
Jan's X-Bow (forgot the name, useless here anyway);
So all in all, only 2 weapons could hit the demilich Casters in this case, like Aerie and Jan, can use Melf's Minute Meteors, these work like a charm on demilich.
And that's it. These Fire resist is naturally needed due to Fireshield and some blasts.. Other buffs were used mainly for the bonuses to rolls (to party) and penalties to the enemies. All these spells are relatively low level and should be acessible to most, if not all. During the combat I used also the Secret Word and Breach to remove the pesky protections, one of each. Also, if you have a thief in the party (and you should), set the traps to the sarcophagus - the lich will spawn on the traps and will get whacked by those even before his spell triggers will launch, thus he will get quite a whack up his... back right at the start. Yoshi's traps are best, but Jan's will also do (if you're not the thief yourself).
Before you get down to Kangaxx buy all the Protection from Undead scrolls you can. Good thing is to get at least 2 per face. Better safe then sorry. Share the scrolls out to party members and set them to Quick Slots, but DO NOT use them while Kangaxx is in lich form. Not needed simply.. Also preferrable is to have the clerics in the group to have the Summon Skeleton memorized, preferrable the clerics being over or at lvl 15 (for the skeleton warriors ) But do not summon them yet for the Kangaxx in lich form.
Anyway, the killing: by the time the demilich appears, most if not all of your buffs are gone. Ran out and got dispelled. No biggie. Just before Kangaxx the lich is about to die, he will throw a speech. Immediately pause the game and use with everyone BUT MINSC the Protection from Undead scroll. As soon as the scroll is used, let the Aerie and Anomen (let's say clerics) cast the Summon Skeleton between the almost dead lich and the main char in this case (cavalier with Carsomyr). Idea is that the skeleton warriors appear BEFORE the demilich and the main char is behind the skeleton warriors, just in case (reason is that the mobs usually go ballistic on the FIRST target they see, so the idea is to make the expendable summons to be the first things to see). Minsc has too low WIS probably to cast the Protection from Undead scroll, so let him Enrage. By this time the skeleton warriors are summoned and the main char has, together with others, has probably killed the Kangaxx in lich form. Now the demilich appears and here's the reason WHY Minsc has no Protection fron Undead on yet - IF all are not visible to demilich when it spawns, it cannot speak to anyone and will be thus UNKILLABLE! In current case he doesn't see anyone else but Minsc and so he speaks. After that he proceeds to Imprison, but the skellies first because these are closer. That's 2 spells it has to cast and by that time, Minsc can get the Protection from Undead from any nearby char, who has the extra scroll on him/her.
Demilich finishes the skeleton warriors by Imprisonment, but after this he just stands there and clicks the jaws, because he doesn't see anyone else - all are protected from undead and invisible to him. Take off Party AI, stop everyone save your main char with Carsomyr (in this case) and Jaheira (or anyone else) who has the Sling of Everard. If someone has any other +4 or better weapon, can send them in as well. And whack away. Soon it's dead and tadaa! XP rolls in.
Sorry if that got to be a bit lenghty post But the idea was to show that you can do it easily, with just some lower level spells (in the first fight, they would be useless in the fight with demilich anyway) and with the gear you can get by that time. Unless you rushed to Kangaxx, you should have all this gear and the levels to cast Skeleton Warriors. However, you can use ANY summon here. The idea is simply to buy some time while Kangaxx the Demilich makes it's speech (he simply MUST MAKE THAT SPEECH) and starts Imprisoning. Summons do here just fine and will buy the time needed. I have killed the Kangaxx like this few times, it only takes some little planning

Here is a really easy way to defeat Kangaax.
I did this when I was a lvl 10 cavalier.
First get Yoshimo to lay about 8 traps where he first appears when you click on the coffin. Then go to Adventurers Mart and buy a scroll of prtection against magic from Ribald.
When Kangaax first appearshis lich form is destroyed instantly. Meanwhile cast the scroll on yourself - immune to magic and wack him with a +4 weapon. I used Carsomyr. Easy

My tactic was quite similiar to that of Henry:
I set some snares just where Kangaxx appears in the very beginning, and his lich form is history! Then I cast a scroll of protection from magic on Keldorn, who wacked Kangaxx with Carsomy (+5 weapon) while Aerie and Nalia used Melf's minute meteors against him and... well, he was dead before long.

I thinnk the coolest strategy I saw used against kangaxx was the, place traps where he spawns, enough to kill his lich form. Place traps in the upper left corner of the room, enough to kill his demi-lich form. Place yourself so that one charge from ring of the ram will shoot him across the room to where the other traps are.
Works best if you haven't installed ToB or if you have access to spike traps.
I think it is a shame that kangaxx cannot dispel your protections, it would be more interesting if he could.

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

For what it's worth, I fought Firkragg with my whole party. Not an easy task, but the work was done!

an very easy way is to get a fighter mage.
let him drink str potions and haste. cast immunity from abrujection and something to stopping him being held or charmed and let him read the magic scroll of black blade of disaster which is a +5 weopon. being immune to imprisionment he is nice and easy.

I beat kangaxx at a fairly low level, this is how I did it:
Bought a protection from magic scroll at the adventuremart (Ribald keep 2 in his stock).
I had no paladin, so the carosmyr was out of the question, and I felt the sling would do very little. I bought the staff of rhynn +4.
I sent in minsc with the staff. He resisted all the inprisonments and whacked away. Wasn't very effective though, I never gave minsc any staff prof. , go figure eh.
This was going far too slow though, so I summoned 3 mordekaien swords and chopped him up. Nice and easy.
