Secret Door Problem(Possible Spoiler)

Post by Catcher »

I'm having a little trouble in Bohdi's Lair in Chapter 3. I've done in all three of the "name" vampires and I'm in the banquet room looking for the secret door so I can get to the coffins and stake them. I,ve been standing in front of where I knowit is, but even after detecting traps with Nalia for a couple of game hours, I still can't get it to trigger. If I remember correctly, it took a good deal of time with my previous party too (in which Jan was the thief). Does the Find Traps percentage affect finding the door or is there another trick? Do I maybe need to go find Yoshimo or Jan to be "temporary" door locator? Thanks in advance.

I don't think that thief skills affect the finding of secret doors. My party consists of /me (a Knight), Minsc, Anomen, Valygar, Jaheira and Aerie. Though it took about 20 secs to find the door, my party found it. Just walked a little up and down in front of it.

Read the manual page 52.
Detect doors depends on class and race, and when you have detect traps on you have 100% chance of detecting.

eithe get someone with elf or dwarf blood to look for it. these races are really good at finding secret doors. (I always use korgan, but aerie or jaheira might work just s well)

Thanks, all. I'm afraid this is just going to be one of those unponderables. I did check the mannual and I have my entire party lined up, facing the wall where the secret door is. I'll try it for a couple of three "game" hours then reload. Maybe I need to open it before finishing Lassal off.

well, why don't you go through the other way. there are two doors to the room with the coffins, you DO know that, don't you?

or are you simply dead set on finding that door?

If you have anyone capable of casting priest spells in your party, try using the second level spell detect traps.

The secret door shows whenever my party go near it. So just use your own intelligent and guess where could be the secret door. Usually, there are some thing unusual on the wall. Then move a character near it and it will pop out.
