I have an evil party and went to Trademeet with a reputation of 6. It was interesting because the dialogues with the merchant captain were different, he said something about that my party was known to be trouble, but that the town needed help so... I said something like that the bad rep was just because of the troubles of the road, but he didn't buy it, but he still let us do the quests, and the rewards were the same as far as the items go.
Now the interesting thing is, the merchant that sells the belt of inertial barrier, the dwarven thrower, and black blood, DIDN'T EVEN SPAWN! I took some time to test it, and it seems like if I came into trademeet with under a 9 rep, that merchant would not even be there, but if rep was higher, he appeared, so anyway I had to do it all over again, coming into town with a 13 rep.
Basically I saved the town, then went around and ripped off every merchant, killed the heads of the two noble families, and looted the town crypt - seems pretty evil to me.

Did you go into one of the tents near the djinn and talk to the caravan captain and his wife? I alwasys thought that is what sets things off, becasue I went on a shopping trip right after saving everyone, and the good stuff was not for sale. so I wnet and talked to the caravan captain and he said he was off to start the caravans rolling again, and so I rested and all the good sstuff was for sale.
They call me Darth...
Darth Gizka!

I don't think I talked to those people, but I tested out the Reputation effect by entering town with a different rep several different times and seeing when the merchant appeared, however there could be much more going on than I am noticing.
I did get it to work by entering town and doing the quests with a 13 reputation, but of course my whole group was whining, so after I got the goods I had to show them a good time to cheer them up a little.

Hey, I forgot to mention that the town of Trademeet put a statue of Edwina up next to their fountain, man I bet he's pissed, he'll probably come back when he's an archmage and level the whole town.
same thing happend with me, only Edwin(a)'s statue had a small hoard of flys buzzing around it!

Are you sure it's a matter of rep? The Belt of Inertial Barrier guy is only there for a small part of the day. I went looking for him at night; he wasn't there. I rested (on the spot); he still wasn't there. I rested again (still in the same spot); he was there!
