Does anybody remember Sierra's old MMORPG, The Realm? That's not still going, is it?

As I recall, it was sold at least once, maybe twice, and finally shutdown. They never did do the mods they needed to bring it up to date, as they claimed they would. Hell, even Simutronics' MMORPGs looked better-and Simutronics' games are text-based. ;)

Horrible everything. It was a first generation MMORPG, with 256 colors, very few objects, and terrible animation. I'm surprised anybody chose to invest in it when Sierra decided to sell the thing.

I guess they thought the "online" novelty wouldn't wear off.

When it did, they sold it. They should have upgraded it, like New World Computing did to theirs. Still, online graphical multiplayer games are a chancy thing that periodically require major investment in new engines, something the original designers swore wouldn't happen.
