Thank you for everyone who helped me through. I have run Fdisk, reformat and reinstall the faster new drive, leaving the old one as it were. As the result, I can still access to some files and programs in the old drive from the new Windows screen.
And I've got more questions...
Where should I copy my old emails?

Well done
The outlook files are in a directory on your computer just do a find files for inbox.dbx You should then be able, import them back in

Sorry Have you got a webmail interface with your dial up, they might still be on there (last hop )
Well i am not sure the only way to get that out AFAIK is to export from outlook then reimport, i will look into it.

Search for a file called Address Book, or look in Windows/application data

I will deal with the address book and emails tomorrow. I'm currently updating 5Mb worth anti-virus program etc (I've lost old updates, so I have to do all over again ). Microsoft also thinks I should download its update, and it will take 2 and half hours...
Still, I have all my saved games for BG1&2, IWD and PS:T alive. I'm sure of that, because I've checked them!

Humphf, oh sure thank them. Glad you got everything running, Minerva. Put the MS downloads in, they do help a bit.

Thank you, DP. I didn't realise I cannot include you in the "guys"...
I couldn't download MS last night. I have to get up early, and the other downloads finished around 1.00am...

I had that with my IE update, the crazy thing was that i had a 2 hr cut off on the dial up i was using, and Microsoft didn't bother to put a resume in their download software This kind of thing is why we love them so much
