Good strategy, I believe the faq mentioned using wiz eye for that, I have done it in the past, but not often, too tricky to setup imho.
just tried hasted and inv skellys, they work great in the flayer lair of underdark!!! ability to sweep in and inflict damage is absoolutely marvelous! I don't think flayers can dispell invisibility, so they are among the flayers and inflicting damage really well!!!
being mass inv gives them some kind of resistance to int drain, I've lost very few of them so far, hardly any!
try it, you'll like it!!!

hmmm...do mind flayers have sucky thac0?
just finished mind flayers off today, amazed at the result. every other time I've played with hasted skellys I've lost dozens of skellys....making thme invisible allowed me to lose 4 all together...!!!
and I was able to clear almost all the rooms with 4 ONLY....
here is another possible tactic, how about gating in a pit fiend into the rooms?
fun, and funny, but of little practical value, the int drain is just too evil.
the only suport spell that works in using skellys against flayers is dragon breath. that spells ability to bypass magic resist makes it deadly for the inv sorc following a skelly group and thinning out the flayers to give the skellys a better attack. works great on umber hulks too...
stinky cloud is second best, knocks out the umber hulks and dometimes will knock out a few flayers so they are dead meat...

Sort of...if you have an AC around -9 or -10, they won't hit you often enough to drain your brain. If you get in a big cluster it can be dangerous though.Originally posted by UserUnfriendly:

They definitely have sucky Hit Points - probably 40 or something, so
Bad hit points + Magic Resistance = Melee Kills
Get your number of attacks/round up for maximum carnage.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

Say no more! Mind Flayer = 9,000 exp, Ulitharid = 19,000 exp, no WAY I'm gonna pass that up. Of course it would be worth summoning a pit fiend on those brain suckers just for the entertainment value.Originally posted by Bruce Lee:
