What is Planescape Torment?
You gain experience points in the class you're active in. PS:T is unique in that your protaganist can switch his class by talking to certain NPC's or party members.Originally posted by Stoner Cold:

how does the fighter\mage\theif thing work? do you gain levels in all at once, and how do you switch?
how does your align change?
and what in the blue hells is an 'uber-weapon'? is that a big ole' german frank-furter yo hit people with?</STRONG>
Your alignment starts as true neutral, then changes according to the way you play. If you play evil, your alignment will eventually change to evil, and vice versa. PS:T handles the Chaotic vs. Lawful part differently from the BG series. If your character is always truthful and makes a lot of vows, you eventually get a lawful alignment, whereas if your character lies a lot, you get a chaotic alignment.
Yea, I would pause the game in different areas too, just to hear the music. Too bad they're not making another game like it.Originally posted by Mr Sleep:

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

There are also a number of dialog of options that, if chosen, slowly edge your character towards lawfulness.Sojourner writes:

What is the definition of "Planescape"? OH, I also need input.
1) I found on Amazon that they are selling Fallout1/Fallout2 bundle for 20 dollars and PS:T for 15. Which one should I get if I get only one choice? I know both are pretty open-ended and non-linear. So I need your input on this guys.

I've been able to get the Lawful Good alignment pretty early in the game, following the guidelines posted over at the Pit (when it was still there).
To get a good alignment: Never threaten anyone or ask for a reward. Never attack anyone who isn't hostile.
To get a lawful alignment: Whenever possible, choose the Truth or Make Vow dialog option. Always follow through, don't say one thing then do the opposite.

Well AFAIAC PS:T is a better game, although Fallout is good. If you are more used to BG type games go with PS:T. Both of these games are similar in many ways, i.e. they are story and dialogue dependent games.Originally posted by humanflyz:

There is of course a simple option......buy both

Does that mean I shouldn't have killed all the local thugs? I used Morte's special power to make them hostile first so I reasoned I was merely defending myself. I p*ssed someone off in lower Sigil because every time I go there to check out Fell's new fall collection of tattoos, nearly everyone is hostile to me. If I don't make a mad dash throught the crowd and try to avoid any confrontations, the Lady eventually descends on me ending my game. Outside of that, I have always tried to tell the truth and not make any vows I wasn't willing to keep (just like real life!)
No, it's OK to provoke the thugs (Hive only) with Morte's special ability, since they're going to attack anyway, if you're in their visual range too long. I do this a lot in the early game for the XP and cash, and am still able to get the LG alignment rather quickly.
You must have used the ability on the wrong person.

To Mr. Sleep:
I don't know about you. But in my Asian family, my parents consider games to have absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever, and they consider gaming a terrible waste of time. So I am only permitted to buy one thing at a time. I do not have the option to buy both.
God I wish I work and buy it with my own money!!!

Personally i prefer Planescape, any one else got any opinions tohelp?
I used to have a friend who could only buy one game at a time, they were similarly displeased when two games came out at the same time that they wanted Go with P:T then it seems to be the best (IMO)

I'm of Rapier's opinion. FO2 didn't stick you with a deadline. You could explore to your heart's desire. And that's also the case with Troika's new title, Arcanum.
But I preferred P:T to 'em all.
