Man what is up with THACO in this game?
Does this game use a different kind of rules or something? Cuz from what I remember the lower the thaco the better. I can't seem to figure out what is better in this game. If I switch to a weapon that would seemingly make me have better thaco, my thaco goes up. And a lot of the descriptions of the weapons say something like +2 THACO, does this mean my thaco goes up and this would be bad, or does that means my thaco would go down and it's good?!?!!?!?!?!?
THACO works the same way as in BGI & BGII, with one caveat: PS:T has a problem handling negative THACO's (you generally don't reach that point until very late in the game unless you've hacked your character). The only reason I can think of for your THACO going up when equipping a certain weapon is either you're not proficient with it, or you're less proficient with it than the previously equipped weapon. Don't confuse the enchantment level of a weapon with the THACO bonus it gives - they're not always the same.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
