Factions?!? (may include spoilers)
Factions?!? (may include spoilers)
Is it possible to change factions back and forth?!? (e.g I'm a "dustman" right now...and I'd like to change to "Sensate"...will I be able to change back to "dustman" again?!?) Also does anyonw know where one could find some walkthrough material (different quests and advantages of different factions)?!?

The Sensate Faction is special in the game; with this I mean that when you are a member of an other faction you can bluff your way into the Sensate faction (if your CHA is high enough, and probably your INT and/or WIS will figure in also). This is not possible with other factions, and the reason for this is that joining the Sensate Faction is crucial to the story progress.
AFAIK there are not really any advantages/disadvantages regarding the various factions; you only get your hands on some special magical equipment unique to that faction.
For a walkthrough you can check out Gamebanshee

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you have a high enough charisma, you can bluff your way into seeing any of the factions' private stores (the amount of charisma depends upon the faction). But this isn't the same as having membership in that faction. You can bluff your way into the Godsmen's store, for example, but any faction-specific weapons you buy won't be useable unless you are currently a Godsman. This also applies to abilities: only Dustmen receive a +4 bonus to armor against the Undead.Originally posted by Omar:

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I don't know how I can have missed this great game before....I remember Xandax trying to persuade me to give it a try but I didn't think it looked that good...(well was I wrong)... Bought it now that it came out on budget and for the last couple of days I've been totally hooked up on it...fairly challenging and linear but still the gameplay is great.... I've checked the walkthrough section of Gamebanshee (when I got stuck in the first "Maze") and although it contains a lot I still couldn't find that much about factions..(which ones you can join and how to join them...the different faction-quests and so on)...

Be sure to try it as a fighter type, and as a mage. You'll discover that it's an entirely different game, depending upon whether you've maxxed your stats in strength, dexterity and constitution, or in intelligence, wisdom and charisma.

@fable: you are right! I was not thinking straight and forgot that you don't get any bonuses when you are not an actual member...

if you're a Godsman, you can get your hands on some SERIOUS weapons. but personally i think the best weapon is Heartgrinder, you get it from the fiend in the tower of Curst, if you make a deal with him. but the reason for this post, was that you won't have to bluff your way into the Sensates, if you do the quest for Nemelle and her friend first, she tells you that she knew you before, and that you ARE a Sensate, then go to the man by the door in the Festhall, and tell him that, then you can get all the cool stuff from the Sensate, without cangeing fraction.

Actually, it's Aelwyn, Nemelle's friend, who tells you that NO is a Sensate.
