Should I die more often?
Should I die more often?
I've been playing this game for awhile now and have made it to the Clerks Ward. All this time, I have never turned down a fight and have instigated quite a few myself. Up to this point however, I have only been killed maybe twice. I read somewhere that when you die, you sometimes remember more of your past. Should I be letting TNO die in battle more often? Is this a silly question or what?
I died many times my first few goes, but i do not remember ever gaining any xP due to my deaths, i would not go out of my way to get killed, but it is'nt that much of a problem if you do.
Well i successfully confused myself, how about you?

I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
I haven't played the game enough to know for sure, but in the beginning it seemed to me like the spots where you were supposed to die were pretty clearly shown to you. For instance, in the Dustman Bar, when you talk to the guy by the door (no clue what his name was) you go far enough in the dialog, and he asks if he can kill you, since he doesn't really believe that you are immortal and he is suicidal anyways. I let him kill me, gained some memories and a skill, I believe. But when I died in normal combat, nothing really special happened.
"Think on this, arrogant mageling: even the mightiest archmage has no spells strong enough to let him cheat death. Some take the road of lichdom... a living death. The rest of us find graves, and our dust is no grander than that of the next man. So when next you lord it over some farmer with your fireballs, remember: we all master spells enough to die"

Dying doesn't get you any memories. Having a higher wisdom might trigger a few.
However, dying can be useful. For example, if you're surrounded and the odds are against your party, don't reload: just die. You'll all reappear in the nearest safe zone. (This can be especially useful in the Modron maze if you haven't tracked your route properly, or are just too tired to run all the way back. Simply let yourself be killed, and you're back in the first room of the maze.)

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
