Well you can always make a ficitonal character using gatekeeper. You can even try to make Link from the Zelda games.
Elf, fighter, male.
Stats you'll have to make up.
You can create a Lord of the Rings character.
Aragorn: Human, male, ranger.
Frodo: Halfling, thief
Sam: Halfling bard(use gatekeeper)
Or from other fantasy books.
Tanis: Half-Elf fighter, male
Flint Fireforge: Dwarf, fighter, profecient in battle axe.
Danillo Thann: Human, bard, male
And more...

Problem with those characters is that they have some very good items or have some extreme stats. I cant see aragorn have less than 20 con for example. But its a fun idea.
Boromir would be my favourite, he would be a berzerker or maybe barbarian in BG2, with extreme Str and Con

And thick as hell? Oh no that would probably not fit him right...however there ain't anything like arrogance or something.

Actually Boromir(just as Aragorn, although with him it depends if you want strider or the actual elassar) would need lots of charisma...

Yeah, boromir might have a lot of charisma, as he was the natural leader, but he was in my oppinion the biggest hero in the whole trilogy. He wasnt the nicest of men however. Neutral alignment?

Any of the peple in LoTR would have very high classes as well as exceptional stats. Sam would probably have 19 in con or something, and be perhaps level 20? he did beat a giant spider after all

No he would be more like level 5 or 6. After all the hobbits had never been on an adventure until now, so they started at lv.1 and gained the levels through kind of defeating the ringwraiths, and the goblins. Yes many of them had powerful weapons but they aren't much more poweful than weapons you can get in BG.
Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, and Boromir had already adventured before and foguht monsters, so they would be level 6 plus.

I would think Boromir would probably be chaotic good. He wanted the "good" thing, but just didn't want to follow the chosen "lawful" path to get there. Now Gandalf would be interesting - of course, you'd have to give him like a 25 INT. And really, he'd probably be the FR equivalent of Elminster, if not better.

I remember a really fun game that was a family of halflings that had to put up with the (adopted) protagonist being a deranged nutter..

create histories... as Thorin said you can create fictional character.. use gatekeeper to create a superhuman character and go at everyone like Jon Irenicus

With gatekeeper you can make a dwarf with 25 str, and 5 everything else, make his body into that of an ogre, get a cool potrait and sound, and have him bash people on the head with a stick.

I didn't say so...thick was probably the wrong word to use...what I meant was, that Boromir is not exceptionally intelligent(whilst his brother Faramir is), he ain't thick...he is kind of ...well...forgetting to think quite often....cause he is such a hero(god I hate Boromir)

I'd think Boromir lacks Wisdom, and Faramir has very good stats all across the board.

Intelligence is hard to gauge... Gandalf is very cunning and calculating, but I couldn't think of any reasons why any of the others would have exceptional Int. Sure, Aragorn and Frodo make some tough decisions rather well, but that could be written down to Wisdom.

The hobbits had a low wisdom in the beginning of the series but as they adventured they wisdom went up and Frodo became really wise towards the end.

Aragorn was both intelligent and charasmatic. He lead the group after Gandalf's death and became king.
Elrond and Gandlaf were probably the wisest beings in the universe.
