Exactly where is the ring of wizzardry? Spoiler

Post by Mini Me »

The ring of wizardry in FAI. I went to the exact coordinates given on the BG walkthru here and it wasn't there. I have not installed ToSC or any patches, help?

Seems to me that happened to me as well at one point when I was first playing the game. I'd uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it at another time without ToTSC, went to the coordinates and couldn't find it. Makes me wonder if it's a registry entry of some sort?

Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...

That thing is so easy to miss... If your mouse pointer jumps one pixel too many while moving, you won't see it.

Do yo have the exact x,y coordinates if you have them and it is not there. Then looks like you do not get the ring. If you would like the coordinates just ask And I can give them to you. ;)

Ring of Protection +1 (I'm not sure if this is the right name): South of Friendly Arms Inn

Scrolls of Chromatic Orb and (very rare in BG) Cloud Kill spells: South of Nashkel

Ring of Fire Resistance and gems: East of Nashkel Mine Exit

I'm not confident in those locations. I should play BG1 again... :D

Walk to the right once you're in FAI area along the southern map border (for a quite a bit actually), and you'll see a tree and a rock. In front of the tree, there's a little brown spot. Hunt there for the ring. For me it's always there.
And the Ring of Protection, it's easy to find. On your way to FAI, after meeting Elminster, take a shortcut to the northeast. You'll see something like wells, two of them, and inside one of them is the ring. It's been like three years since I played BG but it's still fresh...

I think it's under the only Pine tree in that part of the screen. Just walk 3/4 to the end of the map to your right, and keep an eye under the trees. You'll see the light brown spot.

Why did the programmers but the ring in sutch a lousy spott, i mean I realy need the ring for my mage to be a litte effactive in the first chapters, so if you don't know it's there, you'll never find it.
Hard to believe but when i first played baldur's gate as an ranger i accidently found the ring :D  :D
