moral dilemma *spoilers*

Post by oggeboy »

this might seem like a wierd question but i'm having trouble with choosing what to do when you meet Aldeth (the guy with the bastadr sword +1/+3 vs shapeshifters) in cloakwood, should i kill him or save him? this is from a roleplaying point of view, otherwise i know it is good to help him since you get both the dryad ring and the sword later. what do you think please let me know...

The good action is generally to fight by his side IMO, simply because you can try to reason with the druids, admitting he did something wrong but saying that death is too extreme a punishment, then they will attack you as well.

Thus you can kill them in self-defence, having tried to bring a non-violent solution to the situation :)

I saved the guy, but for some reason I was never rewarded with the sword. No matter. There's another such sword in the expansion, and it's really not worth carrying around IMHO.

Just from a role-playing POV...

Don't the druids say that he is messing up the land? Using the forest for his own ends?? That might help you decide. If your character doesn't mind that you can go ahead and take Aldeth's side; if it bothers you then side with the druids :)

Actually, in another RP POV, you can steal that feckin' sword!

Fight on Aldeth's side.... smoke the dryads in your crack-pipe. Then, before talking to Aldeth, pick-pocket him!

Make sure you save before, so you can go back and keep trying, but it works!! Damn funny too! Think about it... we just stole a Bastard sword from you, and we're holding it, but we did nothing wrong! Anyhoo, yeah.. give it a try! I recall having to do the pickpocket thing a few times to get rewards that are rightfully mine.

You'll get the sword if you 1) defend Aldeth and 2) help him in Baldur's Gate to "clean house"

It probably is the "better" thing to do to help poor old hunting guy, but the aloe vera remark is really funny...the first time.
