Hi:
I have just started Chapter 3 & would like to know which magician is best for me. I have Branwen the Cleric but I do not like her spells. I would rather have more destructive spells like fireball.
Which character do I want? And where do I find him/her.
How about Dynaheir or Xan?
Thanks
Which Wizard/Mage is best
Well firstly, if you want fireball, don't pick Xan because he can't use it. Edwin is the one you want for destructive spells. He's evil, but I never let that bother me. He's just too cool not to take with you.
On the other hand, Dynaheir and Minsc are a good combo and she has access to some pretty destructive spells too. I just prefer Edwin however. He has more spells too, being a red wizzard and all...

Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Edwin was, as IMO still is the best.
Don't worry about rep, when you hear edwin's "I'm leaving" line, pick him and move him (ie: do an action with him) and that will interupt his speach sequence and he will stay with you until the next time.
I've had him with a rep of 20 from cloakwood until the end of ToSC.
With both rings of Wizardy he can single-handedly kill those people in the Iron Throne (first and second group), that group in the tunnels under Candlekeep, the Zhentium etc, etc.
IMHO the best NPC in the game.

But there are so many fireball wands in the game it doesn't matter.Originally posted by Vehemence:

Still, Xan kicked booty with his moonblade and a bunch of acid arrows
