Be carefull of traps, the center of the room is crowded with them - and lure one of the hencman forward at the time. (or take them out with 3 or more people with bows and arrows of detonation)

When Sarevok attaks use a couple of wands of summoning to keep him bussy.
Or - just pump your party up with poitions and take him down in meele combat.

Hope this helps

Well, level 7-8 is pretty much the cap for BG1, so I guess it should be possible.

As Xandax said, lure them out one at a time, some Sculltraps at the right spots worked real wonders for me.
After his buddies were gone I beefed up my fighter with speed and strength potions and took Sarevok out one on one (have some healing drinks handy for this).

Pretty much the key to taking out Sarevok is summoning. Block his path with a bunch of summoned creatures and he probably won't even get to you.
"Think on this, arrogant mageling: even the mightiest archmage has no spells strong enough to let him cheat death. Some take the road of lichdom... a living death. The rest of us find graves, and our dust is no grander than that of the next man. So when next you lord it over some farmer with your fireballs, remember: we all master spells enough to die"

Well I wouldn't say that, if you just use potions it is more than possible to take him down in meele combat. I never used the summoning startegy much in BG1 and not at all against Sarevok.

I had my entire party on potions of speed pelting him with ranged weapons (bullets +2 and acid arrows).
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

My tactics :

I summon (and I'm going to do it - currently 5th chapter) a lot of monsters - skeletons, Monster summoning 1&2 - it will cause huge mess needed to stop all Sarevok's supporters and him as well.

In meantime the party members that do not cast spells use their ranged weapons on enemies or have the melee fight with mage that teleports near party (yes, there is one annoying mageling :D ) After casting needed monsters all mages in party cast their magic missiles on Sarevok - in conclussion he is a piece of cake - when he cannot move because of monsters....... :D :D :D

Keep in mind that this is the end of the game, it doesn't really matter if one or more of your characters die, as long as your main guy survives. Maybe that's a coldblooded attitude, but at the point where I'm fighting Sarevok I'm pretty pragmatic ;)

If you really want to kill Sarevok, but cant because he actually kicks ass... then just get a wand of monster summoning (or 2) :p

Just summon many troops to surround him and he cant do much...

Here can you find them:
Outdoor Zone (AR5000) - Found within tomb

Baldur's Gate (AR0800) - Purchased from Halbazzer in the Sorcerous Sundries
