Nope, I don't think so. I played 3 characters thru the original BG without ToSC and I can tell you there's no Durlag's Tower. Unless you're getting confused with the Firewine Bridge or Ulcaster's School.
I found out all about how the world map gets modified when the expansion is installed when I tried to use a modified savegame in the non-expanded version. As soon as I tried to move to another area the game would crash to the desktop.

Check my profile for the Glaicas patch
NPC's discuss Durlag's Tower (in Gullykin you are asked if you're going there - "Not today, tell me about the Firewine ruins" you say). But you cannot access it. Once ToSC is installed you can just stroll there without going to Ulgoth's beard.

I´m I really this stupid?? I played BG to the end without Ulgoth´s Beard or Durlag´s Tower showing on the map. After that I run the TOSC cd and started with final-save. The story begin in the Ulgoth´s Beard, but on the map it shows that i´m on the eastside of Baldur´s Gate. I can´t find the way at Durlag´s Tower eighter. Why won´t those places apear to me. Do I have start the game from the beginning again???

To put Ulgoth's Beard on your World Map: Exit the BG's Gate Bridge map on the north side. You can reach the rest of the new areas from there by talking to the right people.
You can reach Durlag's Tower directly by exiting the Nashkel Carnival Map on the east side.

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Hmm, I don't recall having that problem. Did you try loading the Final Save and going from there?

Sounds like another one of those *gasp* bugs.
