Utlilizing disciplines & controlling Npc's
Utlilizing disciplines & controlling Npc's
To Buck or any one else who might know
I loaded the vampire patch from this site. I'm finding it a little difficult to control my Npcs in combat. I'm currently in Vienna and have played some parts of the place right after the party has entered the clock and have to navigate through sunlight areas. Buck, you mentioned something about leaving your party behind and controlling one chractor at a time to navigate them, (in walkthrough section). What is the key to toggle so I could leave my party behind and not have them follow me while i walk past the places where sunlight will not hit me directly? Also what is the key to press to initiate pause in combat? I thought it was the "Esc" key but that only gave me the screen to load or save game. Does this pause key work like pause in Baldur's gate where then I could give a set of commands to each of my Npc's then unpause it and they will follow these commands?

Separating party members and controlling them individually at parts of the game is great! When I was thrown in prison dungeon I was able to retrive the artifact sword from the room by drawing the knight lords out a couple at a time with christoff. He went into the the artifact room and when the knight lords notice him, I had him run out again back to my main party that concentrated their attacks on the knights. my party was waiting in ambush for those knight lords!

Unfortunately I had only one slot in the discipline "command" and one in "mesmerize". Christoff had three slots in the presence discipline of "Awe" but it seems that the knights are very resistant to "Awe". I tried numerous times with "Awe on the knights, but they were not affected by it.
Aegis, Would you say the presence disciplines are similar to the dominate discplines? If not why Dominate disciplines over presence disciplines?

Presenc is more of a fear factor than anything else. I think Awe is the only one that really draws an enemy to you, and it is highly resistant by a lot of vampires (Venture, High level Tremere). Dominate is something that not a lot of vamps. are resistant to, and if you can afford the points, you can actualy gain controla of almost anything in the game, draw out some blood, and than attack with it! Always a bonus when you don't have to do your own fighting.
I see.
I just lost Erik, after he was turned to a gargoyle and my party had to kill him off. The computer crashed before It cut into the scene in 1999. So I check this forum area and the walkthrough. Wilheim was the one with the antique sword ainkurn, I suppose if i was going to lose my npcs I better transfer that sword from wilheim to christoff. Too bad I allocated tome disciplines to my other Npcs Hopefully I'll see them again in 1999.

I'm in the modern era now and getting ready to board the ship to America.
In the modern era what do you have your chractors wielding as weapons? Right now I have christoff with the ainkurn sword, Pink with the shotgun, and lilly with the pistol. But I was thinking maybe to equip pink with a melee weapon too, (I tend to run out of ammo midway through a dungeon) . The other thing is I figure strength bonuses would not apply to firearm weapons except to determine whether my charactors could use them.

When selecting my weapons, I always had Christof with the Ainkurn. That is a definate must. Everyone else, I up their dex. to 100, and their str. to 100, give em feral claws. Pink usually has the Chain Gun, once you can afford it. Lily gets a flamethrower, very effective weapon/. Later, I give Samuel and Wilhem Sub-Machine Guns. The high dex allows them to be accurate, which is a good thing, because in this game, accuracy sucks.

So do you know if strength is calculated into the damage that is done with weapons like the submachine gun, and the flamethrower?
I guess that is something that may be difficult to determine just looking at combat.

You're right about the accuracy thing with missle weapons. And I thought that the enemies such, as wraiths are immune to bullets, i guess it was just my charactors who because they had low dex and just kept on missing.

I'm in uptown New York navigating through Orsi's warehouse So I'll see him soon I guess.
The discipline "Majesty" I found is very useful, I have five points allocated in this and most of the enemies just stand around while I have Majesty activated. I hit them and they still stnad there looking at my charactor! It even works on beast creatures.
