Pocket plane, how does it work???

Post by UserUnfriendly »

So when I use the pocket plane ability, say in the middle of saradush, but I havent killed gromnir yet, what happens? I get back to caspinar, can I rest and comeback to the same place if I go thru the teethed doors? I heard that was possible.

This would make the rather hazardous problem of being ambushed by wandering monsters non-existant. In Soa I always summoned 2 skeleton warriors before I rested, they'd buy me enough timew to get magic up and running. Now I understand that after I kill gromnir that when I click on the pocket plane, the next time I exit it will take me to where I need to go. so it acts like the city gate district in SOA.

Please help, I am nervous about using the thing.

The pocket plane is your stonghlod, you can return whenever you like, and rest there too. You cannot use it during a fight. Just push the yllow button, nexzt to the Change Slayer button and you return.

Pocket plane makes the game easy. You can flee any time to your pocket plane, rest and come back and beat the crap out of anyone. It's essentially like refreshing your spells and abilities in mid battle.

Kinda takes the fun out of resting in the open, but hey, if you want to use it, go ahead.
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

The only time you can't just run away and use your pocket plane to rest and regain spells is during the final battle with Mellisan and her minions, that's why you get all those lovely wishes to do the same thing.

***SPOILERS***

I have played ToB several times, and I have NEVER been able to refresh with a wish...and believe me I *tried*. Even with a pumped up wisdom, the game refused to give me the option.

You have to do 3 or 4 in a row and you will usually get the refresh as rested as an option in one of them provided you have high wisdom.

I did a wish (or tried) about TWELVE times in a row with a 22 wisdom and *never* got it. At the end of another game, I tried it EIGHT times with a 19 wisdom and never got it either. What is your secret?

that happens when a 'random' selection is made
The door magic mouths "Touch me and die"
Mage (int 18): "Yeah, right..."
The door: (Power Word Kill)
Mage (int 18): Dies....

Wild mages are excellent here. Mine had all first level spells set to Nahals Reckless Dweomer. Essentially 6 wishes :) :D

Loved it! :D
