My 3rd Edition Character

Post by -Maedhros- »

What do you guys think of the idea for this character? Anything I should consider?

Ohtar, Barbarian/Sorcerer

Human, Chaotic Good, Worships Tempus

Feats: Weapon Focus (Greatsword), Toughness

Skills: Climb (4), Jump (4), Listen (4), Wilderness Lore (4), Balance (2)

Equipment: Greatsword, Javelins (6), Dagger, Hide Armour

Ohtar hails from the barbarian tribes of Icewind Dale. His childhood was that of all barbarian children, learning to hunt and gather for the tribe and to make war against the enemies of the tribe. As Ohtar approached manhood strange events followed him. When he was angered strange lights would appear around him. Often he would awake floating inches off the ground. It was not long before elders of the tribe discovered these occurrences. The barbarians of the north have a distinct dislike of all things magical, seeing magic as inherently evil. The tribe did not force Ohtar to leave, but he felt such great shame at the magic around him and left the tribe of his own violation. Since his departure from the north Ohtar has sought an answer to the magic which follows him. He sees it as a sign of personal failure, as though the magic is in some way a representation of some evil within. Ohtar has ventured far to the south into civilized lands as he tries to reconcile himself with his magic.

Only problem is that your character won´t use his magic since he believes the magic to be evil and represent his own failure. Wouldn´t he avoid using it to atone for this evil and hide his shame?

Just a thought.

Well, the idea is that my character is eventually going to come to terms with his magic and try to use it for good. I'm just planning ahead and wondering what spells would best suit a barbarian. I was thinking maybe Jump and Spider Walk for level 1. Any thoughts?

How about "Color Spray"? You did mention strange lights. This could reflect him getting control of his powers. "Shield" or "Armor" would be fitting considering his background and warrior identity.

Also, you should have more skill points than that.
