Fire Giants........
Fire Giants........
Hi there!
Does anywone have a good strategy vs Fire Giants that they can tell me? I've only to mages in my party and it takes a lot of Potions to send your fighters at 'em. I didn't have a problem with 'em when they were only two of 'em in the mountains but in "Yuaga-Shuras lair" there are 5 of these Fire Giants. Any good strategy?.....

Use wand of monster summoning (remember to recharge those!) to keep 2-3 of them busy while hacking away with your fighters. Then again - you could just use (probably - can't remeber anymore) the wand of cloudkill / Invisibility from SoM tactic. (which, btw. works almost agains anything)

Stinky cloud? Fart them to death?
Any good area effect stun or disable spells are great.
They are essentially upgraded orcs, quite vulnerable to most of the mage spells and the cleric spells. the idea is to hit them with ranged weapons, becasue they are very good meelee.
If you have to close in hand to hand, they are totally vulnerable to vorpal weapons greater whirlwind cheap kill tactic. soul reaver works well too.

Beat against them with constant spells and fighters with Greater Whirlwin on. Worked for me. I had a Wizard Slayer, Sarevok, and Korgan do the usual front line assaulting while Jan and Edwin adminster magic missile and acid arrow. Viconia attacked with her sling, but also administered healing and the such.
Also, use defensive spells such as Protection from Evil, Defensive Harmony and so on to boost the AC of your fighters. With the heightened AC and the extra speed and initiative from the Greate Whirlwinds, the FireGiants shouldn't stand up long enough to do much damage.

You can kill a lot om 'em in a real cowardly way... When you get to the last level in Yaga's lair there's a lot of them together with their spellcasting boss. They're too big to follow you through the doors near the stairs where you enter. You can lure them towards the doors though and just use arrows to finish them of without any risk to yourself.
I guess Yaga wasn't too happy with the guy who designed the lair for him...

Guinness is good for you.
Gives you strength.
Gives you strength.
When I'm playing an assassin, I just have my party take a break while my PC backstabs the Fire Giants.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
