Interrupt spells
Interrupt spells
How does that actually work? I mean, how many hits does it take to interrupt a mage/cleric/druid? I thought u only have to damage him while he`s casting, but most of the time I just wack them again and again and their spells just seem to go off anyway...it really pisses me off.
I am "the one", "the chosen"...

I take it this was an accidental double topic creation. I've deleted the other.
The reason some mages and mage/priests get off spells while you're scoring hits is probably their contingency spells. As these spells were "pre-cast," they can be triggered without any lapse of time, and can't really be stopped.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I also vaguely recall that whacking someone didn't disrupt their spellcasting...
Some spells (mostly Vocalize) are cast without allowance for disruption. Creature abilities (like a Dragon's "spells" and Kangaxx's Demi-Lich Howl) aren't interruptable either.

The only time I've every disrupted a lich spellcasting, is with inc. cloud. being burned alive does definately cramp your style. Mazzy and tulgan bow with arrows of biting,
jahira with creeping doom,
me with cast m swords or inc. cloud are the only reliable methods. and inc cloud is the only one against liches. oh, and this does not work against elemental liches. those buggers are immune to elements, and its not just protections, either. once emplaced 12 delayed action fireballs at the place where an elemental lich was to show up, and it didn't even faze it.
I then cast spellstrike, and hit him with inc clouds, he kept on casting!

Just whack it with the Flail of Ages! I've killed just about everything in Chapter 2 with it, and only Kangaxx could deal with it.

Mace of cheating!!!
In the second seal of watchers keep level 5, the damned lich's spells killed off a bunch of my chars, so I relaoded and sent in saverok with mace of cheating. Turned the key, and used whirlwind to whack it ten times of so and blew it up!
Whoever your tanks are, invest a few points in mace. beleive me, mace of disruption +greater whirlwind=dead lich. and its fast!!!!
Instantly take out the lich in the first second of battle, this makes a lot of battles much easier and quite profitable.
The only faster way to go lich hunting is to use delay action fireballs.

two, according to xyx and I think other people have confirmed this, liches are immune to below level 7 spells!!!!!
Skull traps would not hurt it, it is actually immune to it!!!
Delay action fireballs are high enough level to get past the lich immunity. I think those buggers are even immune to breach!

Check xyx's great page on spells. he's the best author of the complete spell faq for bg2. he also includes those nasty, wonderful cheese effects and evil techs I use every time I play. I am a good, or evil practitioner of the cheese effects,a nd have researched cheese on my own.

Liches are innately immune to level 1-5 spells, and I never managed to Breach one (though I tried). Unless anyone else is damn sure they've breached a Lich, I don't think it's possible.
Pretty annoying too, since the average Lich combines Protection from Magical Weapons with his innate immunity to normal weapons...
Level 6+ area damage spells get them every time, though, except for cold & electrical damage (so no Chain Lightning).
