Abazigal Glitch

Post by dionysus »

Woe, woe is me.

I was having fun cruising through ToB when I came up against a brickwall...

The first time I fought Abazigal, I killed him in his human state. He then transformed and quickly killed me. I reloaded, buffed up, and went back in to fight. This is when the problem came.

Now after I kill his human form, the toolbars go way, he transforms into a dragon, blows my troops away, and I never gain control.

I've tried this several dozen times and have even gone to a long-ago previous save and worked my way back. No avail.

All that happens is my party is blown away and the dragon sits there flapping his wings. Once, my main character made it back to the dragon and began wailing on him while the dragon just sat there. I left it on over night, hoping to get past this stage, but 8 hours later, my pc was still there swingin' a pair of longswords, Abazigal taking the damage.

What can I do? Is there a strategy or patch to fix this? has anyone else encountered these troubles?

In short... HELP!!!

I wasn't very familiar with where to report bugs/problems.

I'm a macintosh user who runs Throne of Bhaal on the program Virtual PC, so that might be partially responsible.

It worked once, however.
Would anyone suggest another place for me to go and seek help?

Also, I only have occasional internet acccess, so will not be able to check often.

My thanks, in advance, for any assistance.

This happened to me, too, and it's really a pain.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no fix for it. The only way around it that I know of is to try and hit pause at just the right time. If you manage to get the timing down right, you can regain control.

You'll want to try and pause just as he's transforming. I remember noticing that things would disappear, the cursor would flicker back in for an instant, then go away. When it came back on is when I managed to get the pause in.

If there's a fix, someone please post. Otherwise ... that's the best I can do. Hope it works!

Wow, so I'm not a total freak... or at least there's two of us freaks out there.

Does anyone know if there's somewhere we should post this problem to either get a solution for it or to have it considered in a patch?

Make that three freaks. Same thing happened to me too. It worked the first time but then I got killed by Abazigal in his Dragon form and had to try three more times until my game wouldn't freeze while he was transforming. Guess I was lucky. I don't have any solution to your problem though, sorry.
