???/Theif

Post by Telthos »

I have been thinking about a few different half theif characters and I was wondering which people thought were best. I was hoping to get 100% magic immunity so a sorceror cold cast from behind with
out damaging my fighter. Is this a good idea?

1. barbarian/theif Multi. Then equip with amulet you get a start of ToB 10% MR, evil leather armor 20% MR, Ring of Gaxx 10% MR, Casomyr 2 handled sword 50% MR and then at the end of SoA in Hell you can get 10% MR. This makes 100% MR. But then you can't use Jan's Armor which would make take your weapons resistance from 20% to 45%.

2. Wizard Slayer/theif Multi. The equip the same as above but then you would wear Jan's armor not the evil leather. So you would have 100% MR and 25% protection from physical damage. (is this null if magical weapons were used? What about the Barbarians 20%)

3. wizard slayer dualed to thief at lvl 25. This would let me get to 27 as theif though I would have to wait awhile to get my theif skills and then awhile to get my wizard slayer skills back. I have a wizard slayer from playing SoA with 2% MR per lvl so 38% MR. Now add the 18% MR a Wizard Slayer can get from lvl 20-25 and you have 56% MR. Add the ring, evil leather, the long sword Hindo's doom +4 (10% MR), 10% from hell and amulet (either power or one from elves) for
101%/106% MR. You are then not limited to the weapon you use but still can't use Jan's armor.

Also the barbarian has enrage. Is this a realy good advantage? And with the dual I think you end up with more hp and can become a grand master and place 3 slots in 2 weapon style. So does that put that on top? What about a dual Barbarian/theif? Would that work well though I don't know how to make one. So what do people think?

Well, you can't give a multiclass character a kit, so Wizard Slayer/Thief multi is out.

I played a party with that idea. It consisted of a monk, a half-orc cleric thief and a sorceror.
Both the monk and the cleric/thief had 100% magic resistance so my Sorceror could happily fire away skull traps etc. Pretty useful.
I can recommend the half-orc cleric/thief if you want something different. Besides it is a legit multi-class which some of the ones you mentioned are not.
You can't handle the truth!

As far as the cleric/thief, don't you find it incredibly annoying to have the thief ability button on the secondary menu? I wonder what moron decided that "turn undead" was a more useful function than "disarm trap" and put it on the main quick bar thingy? Is there anyway to change that, or a utility perhaps?
I didn't build that ship for nothing!
