Pfft fighters and mages suck, what really rocks is rogues. Bards and thieves with spike traps, use any item and x7 backstab, now that is overkill.

Magic rules all!

Take a lvl 30 Sorc and a lvl 30 fighter. Give them the best equipment (staff of magi, robe of vecna, amulet of power for sorc; weapons and amrmour for fighters), and put them in a PvP match. The sorc will win.

Not with Imprisonment (will win all battles), the sorc can cast stoneskin, protect from magic weapons, and fire shields. Then throw in a lower resist for any magic resistance in the fighter. Cast time stop + improve alcrity. Greater Malison + Abi Dalzim's + finger of Death + sunfire. Add the 10 lvl spells. Bye bye fighter. :p
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

Errr... dude. A mage almost never wins a fight against a fighter in pvp.

I agree that in PvP a good magician would crush the fighter. I mean it is almost impossible to win against another good mage without a mage yourself, to use breach/pierce magic. But in PvPc fighters last much much longer and a level 21 fighter has a grim thaco and with +3 and better weapons they could last a hundred fights without any rests. A magician has to rest after almost every battle.

Also, having lots of hitpoints, spells like power-word-kill and symbol-death won´t work.

As I´ve said many times before, making two characters fight in PvP doesn`t demonstrate who`s better...or the archer, for instance, would be crap...but is he eh?

Plus, a mage in PvP can be beaten without contingencies, but if the mage can prepare contingencies, shouldn`t a thief be able to set a few time/spike traps?...and that`s bye bye anything!

Try casting Chain Contingency in the middle of battle, and be shocked by the result! :D

Heh heh heh - yeah Xyx, ever since you posted the pause/contingency cheese in the cheese guild i've been using it - works like a charm, too!!!!

I don't have a wild mage or I would have to try out your reckless dweomer technique.
