Sarevok or Korgan?
Sarevok or Korgan?
What's your opinion? I'm just finishing SoA (again) and am thinking should I swap Korgan for Sarevok. In your opinion who kicks more ass? At the minute I have Korgy dual wielding Stonefire and Frostreaver. Should I get Saravok using Ravager if I pick him? Tahanks.
Unrelated question: are 2 handed weapons more powerful with greater whirlwind than 2 dual wielded weapons? Also how many attacks does the off-hand get with GW?

Well, Sarevok does have some bonuses, like the deathbringer, but overall just isnt as versatile as Korgy. If you've put slots into Dual wield and warhammer as well, There are some awesome axes/hammers in ToB. His saves are lower, and his ac is comparative, he only loses out on the Dex bonus. So I'd stick with korgan unless you've never had sarevok in your party
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
@Sigurd - I have Keldorn and think he needs Gauntlets of dexerity more so I'll maybe give Korgy LtM's dexerity bonus and Yaga-Shura's armour (Shunpikk or something)
BTW what does Sarevok's Deathbringer attack do and how is it activated (if random how often?)?
I suppose the Axe of the Unyielding +5 with Crom Faeyr (or Runehammer when fighting undead) are pretty good weapons for Korgy but what do you recomend for Sarevok? Ravager? I think Gram comes way too late to be of much use.
Also, just as a matter of interest, at what levels do fighter types get an extra half attack? I can't find this anywhere in the manual. Thanks.

Sarevok has studied the arts of imtimidation which makes him very deadly in combat. (A Deathbringer)
He has a 3% chance to do an extra 200 slashing damage with every succesful hit.
He also has a 5 (or 7 or something like that) % chance to stun his opponent (save vs spell to ignore) with every succesful hit.
He has great stats (18/00, 17, 18, 17, 10, 15) and a ton of Hit Points.
With the right equepment his saves can get to a 0 (his worst is vs spells which is 6 with out items).
Now, if that hasn't convinsed you to kick out that little rodent to Korgan, think of the roleplaying aspect...I won't spoil anything here for you, but you really should take Sarevok at least once.

Go with Sarevok, no question about it. He's Korgan's superior in just about every measurable sense. I've even had them duel each other numerous times and Sarevok almost always emerges the victor. Not to mention the fact that Sarevok has a cooler voice.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

@Silver:
Well, if you've played with Sarevok, you'll notice most of what I've posted about his abilites, but with regards to the percentiles, you can check those this with Infinity Explorer, I believe. I don't have that myself, but Sabre once posted Sarevoks chances of utilising one of his deadly abilities.
About weapons: Sarevok comes to the party as a level 18 fighter with grandmastry in twohanded swords and one proficiency in both crossbows and halberds.
I would suggest that you equep him with a good two-hander. In my opinion the sword "Soul-Reaver" is one of the greatest for an evil fighter. (It's a SoA weapon, but very good)
But "Psion's Blade" is also a great weapon as in protects against mind attacks. (which is one of the more irritating spells against your fighters, i my opinion.)
The Psions blade can be found rather early in ToB - I won't spoil it though.
Many people equep Sarevok with the Ravager also, but you need to pump up his stats in Halberds first though.
Also, Sarevok has the stats to dual into either a mage or a thief. I don't dual him, but I hear that he can become even more powerful this way. His Deathbringer Assaults will still be there when he mêleé, but it takes a lot of XP in order to activate his fighterclass again (around 2.700.000 to be more specific)
On a sidenote:
If you feel like your protagonist (or any NPC) should have been given the Deathbringer Assault, you can give the person it through Shadowkeeper. It's very simple: Go to the Creature browser and highlight "Sarevok" - the one with the picture of him. Go to "Affects" and copy the line he has.
Now, open a saved gave and paste the line in the "affects" section of whoever you wish to give it to. Simple, right?

What I like best about Saverok is that by the time you run into him, you've seen all the dialog and character that Korgan can supply. Swapping 'em out gives you a whole new set of entertaining interactions.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
