Improved tough Demogorgon (Baldurdash patch)

Post by Mr. Clark »

I downloaded this not really knowing what to expect. Now I have faught him five times and have found that there is NO WAY to beat this SOB!! A time stop right after he appears? What the hell is that? If anyone knows a way to beat this guy, would you mind giving me a few pointers? Or at least tell me how to get rid of the patch so I can go and fight the old, easier Demogorgon.
I will crucify him...real bad

i DON'T KNOW HOW to get rid of the patch, first of all, and I know for sure that it is possible to beat it as I've done it, but I admit it's noooooooooooo picnic! :D

Here's my best advice to start with not knowing what party you have or what level- rest before you take it on. Stock up on breach, alacrity, bolt of glory, greater restoration, maybe comet, simulacrum, I don't know what else, spike traps I have heard work.

Come at the battle from both ends of the area. Have your mages continually breaching and spellstriking and lower resistancing demo. Have your fighter continually grtr whirlwinding (hopefully while hardinessed) with their best weapons ignoring the other stuff and just concentrating on demo. Have your clerics casting greater restorations and bolt of glory (10d6 to demons or something). Put the autopause on end of round and when spell is cast so you don't waste any time. Try having a mage cast alacrity and then breach/lower res/spellstrike/comet/comet. Should work. Also cast simulacrums for extra spell power, have a cleric cast simulacrum from the helm of vhailor to get extra greater restores going. Go all out on the mutha, he'll go down :D

A cheesy but effective method is to place spike traps around the area before he goes hostile, cast the ritual, leave, and when you return watch him die in an instant. Of course, I haven't installed the tougher Demogorgan patch, so this might not be quite so effective.

just killed normal demogorgon on core rules.was somewhat anti-climactic with a fully rested strong team .
can anyone spoil me on how improved demogorgon is harder ?
also somehow jaheira with iron skins and 100%resistance to fire and poison and ixils spike got gorgies attention and he kept hitting on her but kept getting 10 lines of ``jaheira is immune to my damage`` each time he hit . what sort of damage attack is that that has multiple damage types?

dranatos-Demo is harder in a couple of different ways. First off, he summons a ton more guys to help him. Second, as soon as his dialogue ends he cast insta-timestop, and summons his guys and cast a few spells (such as dragons breath). So all in all he is a pain in the ass.....but I but I blew him back to the stone age :D :D

hey, congratulations, Mr. Clark! Now doesn't that feel good? Did you use some of the tactics I mentioned? I've read that traps will kill demo, they would probably still work on improved but I imagine you would have to do the rest/set/rest/set thing to get enough traps to take him out. I don't use traps myself.

I think the difference between regular and improved demo is just scale - more summons, more hit points, more magic resistance, more stoneskins, faster regeneration. You have to really hit him with a lot, fast, as he and his pets will be wiping you out very quickly. Also there is a "storm of vengeance" (cleric spell) over the whole area which looks cool and damages your characters.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

Very difficult!
But I've done it with NO preparations!
The improved Demogorgon casts Time stop immediately, it's a pain...
I've killed it with my berserker/mage and Imoen alone, then recalled the others party
members (who were constantly killed by Demo)
to finish off the other buddies, as my forces were all drained in the effort to kill the boss!!!

Imoen loweres his protections, my char casts
his own protections, with the help of alacrity, some other spells, then Tenser.
As I said, no preparations.
Very difficult, but very fun!

Well thanks everybody! It was a pain but I got em' When I did it, my party was:
Sorc. (me)
Serevok
Korgan
Viconia
Jan

What I did was have me and Jan breach the sucker like crazy while Korgan and Serevok Whirlwinded him to death.....I found the hardest part was cleaning up his pets after the Big Guy was dead.
