Who should I drop?

Post by Absolute »

I have just finished SOA with the following party:

Me - Berserker
Korgan
Edwin
Imoen
Viconia
Mazzy

I was planning to get Sarevok in TOB and drop Korgan, however Korgan has developed into a really cool character dual-weilding Crom fayer and Stonefire/Frost Reaver - (he has grand mastery in both war hammer and axes.

I am now thinking whether I should drop Mazzy instead. I used her mainly as an archer together with Imoen - They have the Gesen short bow and the tasheron short bow.

What do you think?

I like Mazzy, when she is high level she can get cool weapon specilisation in bows and long swords. Give her a decent bow and long sword, and give her the best armour she will cause between 17 and 21 damage a round. She rules.

I wouldn't drop Imoen because you need a back-up mage as well as a thief. I guess it comes down to dropping either Korgan or Mazzy.
Personally I don't care much for Mazzy as a character, but on the other side, your PC is already a berserker so you don't need a second one (Korgan). I'd go for Mazzy. Sarevok can replace Korgan for meleepurposes.

I would drop mazzy since she doesn't really fit in with all your evil characters. If you develop sarevoks crossbow skills he can become a very good archer aswell... there is a really good xbow to be found.
Do you guys really find that Imoen's thieving skills are enough?

@Bruce, Imeon is only a decent thief once you get the Amulet of the Master Harper, which is arguably the best amulet in the Game. Until you get that trinket, you'll have to make do with Potions of perception and of master thievery. She does pretty well for a theif, and I CANT STAND JAN!!!

And on the ORIGINAL topic, hehehe, who you drop really depends on what your melee skills are. If you use axes and warhammers too, just transefer over from korgy, Sarevok is the best Meleer in the game. I might consider dropping Edwin, Imeon is a good mage.

Knight, speaking as one of the most vocal jan haters in the game, he does grow on you, sorta like a fungus of the feet...

jan is damned useful, and not nearly as annoying thses days for me...ue any item, and spikey traps rock! also, forget the amulet of master harper, jan's equipment when he comes in the party provides the smae bonus, and his skills get better, unlike immie. I keep them both.

drop mazzie, and korgan and savvy are both great, savvy for death bringer assualt, and by the time you move up to tob with korgy he becomes too valuable to drop. mazzie is medicre, and immie is goon enough wiht bow to be at least ok.
They call me Darth...

I picked up Sarevok at the start of ToB but he didn't impress me and I picked Valygar back up which is who I dropped at the time.

He obviously didn't fit the (good aligned) party anyway.

Well sarevok is not that good. In some situations he is better than Korgy but in general I think korgan is better with his higher hp and thac0.

about Jan...can you say mirror image, tenser and backstab?

Drop Mazzy. You've already got two great tanks.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
