Demogorgon probs

Post by Zimith »

I am soloing ToB with a (ahem) kensai/mage and got stuck at finishing the demogorgon. I started at the platform by the exits and casted project image. I summon 4 planetars and some other **** and charge. The pr image follows with a wizard eye and constantly breach him. I manage to kill his mareliths but he constantly summon about 6 demons to deal w my grunts and constantly recast stoneskin. When all my pets are dead i cast project image again and do it all over again. After about 4 times this stategy, the bastard still stands uninjured. When my proj image spells are out i return to the above level and sleep ... and do it all over again. It doesn't do any good. Ideas?

sfunny, 5 got him with my sorc casting 1 breach....

did you isntall upgraded demo gorgy patch?

my planetars not only whomped demo, but also killed off the pets....

try softening him up with about 20 delay blast fireballs cast via image and set before you even summon planetars...be careful your planetars don't set them off, or they will turn hostile...
They call me Darth...

also, if it's NOT improved Demo, then leaving the marileths alone will cause him not to summon more demons, so if it's the unimproved one kill demo first.

I wasn't even aware of any upgrading. My guy is lvl 9/28, that may cause him to get nastier maybe? Thanks for the delayed fireball idea. It must be pretty much like trapsetting? Clever.

I fought Improved Demo and ran into similar problems - hard to do enough damage quickly enough to get him before he regenerates. I found that I had to:

try to focus all efforts on Demo, ignoring his summons

compress the timeframe of the battle by using improved alacrity and greater whirlwinds to get more attacks in each round. Use autopause to pause the game at the end of each round and each time a spell is cast to get maximum firepower happening each round. You might want to get a simulacrum out there too.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

I solved the problem by summoning 15 planetars. Didn't feel good afterwards.
Thanks for the help though.

If you harm your summons using the improved summons patch (not baldurdash i think) they won't turn hostile.

I had the improved demogroggy and i had reloaded him what 30 time trying to beat him useing varrious type of strategery and i would always get nuked so i gave up and just set 10 spike trap, a couple skull traps couple of delayed fireball then he got fried in a round. it worked but wasn't as stafying as killing him yourself but i couldn't figure out how!
bah bah, sig? Me? naaa.
