I went to the Oasis and then took down Sendai before going to WK and not sure if it would have been any easier in reverse.

Go for Watcher's Keep. You'll get a bunch of cool item parts for Cespenar. The difficulty level is still up there with the rest of the world, but nobody said life was easy. Plus, I liked keeping the main plot areas linear with each other.
