Finally got ToB!! Now I need some advice....

Post by smaug chow »

OK, so I finally got the game (yeah, I'm way behind the curve - shut up) and I'm starting a new character because I don't have any SoA groups near the end (hard drive crash - lets not discuss it.)

So I'm wondering how to attack this particular beast. My first thought was to try to recreate my old party and I did that fairly successfully, but it was boring so I tried another. I want y'alls advice on this....

A barbarian, Sarevok, and Korgan. Smashy Smashy to the Nth degree, right? Will I have serious problems down the road? I've not researched the walkthroughs or watched this board at all, so it's all new to me. I'm just trying to find out if I'm setting myself up for a disappointment later by running into something I can't beat with my muscles.

Any takers?

Thanks!

No problems with that lineup, no. That was essentially my front line (Kensai/mage, Saverok, Korgan) in my first SoA/ToB run-through. There are some very magic-resistant critters that you'll face, and having strong melee types who can take and deal out damage is essential in ToB. Just be sure they're well-supported by high-end clerics, mages, and druids.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Nope - no backup - just those three. No magic of any kind.

My computer is on the low end and has trouble when everybody is casting spells all over the place, so I thought I'd try to minimize spells on the screen.

You'll have trouble with the last battle, but nothing until that.

There will be times when you have to sit and wait for mages' protections to wear off while they beat on you...
