Watcher's Keep as an Evil SoB.
Right now I'm in SoA and have no Lawful Good members in my party, so I can't reach the Purifier +4. Will it be possible to come back later with Keldorn in ToB to grab it?

It's good if you have a paladin who is into longswords. But other characters can use it too, like thieves with Use Any Item.

Foebane is good against "certain" enemies (demogorgon). In general you want to dual wield something that does some elemental damage (angurvadal or foa for instance)or also the answerer (15% MR reduction per hit), and something that gives you some big bonuses or resistances (again, angurvadal, the equalizer, blackrazor, axe of unyielding come to mind) or an extra attack or something, in the off hand. Pufifier is OK, but the 30% MR is not that great (BTW it's a bastard sword). The spells it can cast could be handy depending.
I tend to dual wield in style mentioned above for maximum damage and attacks/round, then when I have to kill a mage type with stoneskins or mirror image I'll whip out Carsomyr and tap them with it to get rid of those pesky protections. Carsomyr and other two handed weapons are nice if you do a greater whirlwind, 10 attacks per round is pretty sick. I think the upgraded Angurvadal is one of the top couple weapons in the game though - immunities, lots of elemental damage (fire is not so great though), AND a strength bonus - it's got it all.

May you walk on warrrrm sannd....
I would dual wield Purifier with my WS/T. That translates to 40+30=70% resistance just that one item. I use Spectral Brand in my off hand if I need help (+10) hitting something. In my second slot I have The Answerer for backstabbing and vs. MR monsters. 10% spell failure -15% MR is too nice. If I were to use Carsomyr instead, I would use Staff of the Ram in the second slot for backstabs. Either way I don't have to go back and forth to my inventory for weapons.

Caution: A bit spoilerish.
The problem with all those great weapons (the upgraded version) is that you won't be able to actually get them until after one of the enclaves is destroyed. Which imo is very late in the game - perhaps too late to really make a difference.
At that time you already have a lot of strengh enchanted items (belts).
I've played a dual-wielding paladin with the purpose of eventually dualwield the upgraded foebane and purifier.
And my experience was that even if these items are upgradeable rather early in ToB in really makes the smallest of difference.
In my opinion it's in SoA you have all the problems.
On the other hand: wielding the upgraded foebane (larlochs minor drain with each succesful hit) could be a lifesaver when going toe to toe with firegiants - if you solo.
Still, getting Carsomyr at 11th or 12th level (with a rod of ressurection and a careful battleplan that is) is far more giving than wandering around SoA with your +1 Bastard sword in order to get foebane and purifier.
Of course, nobody says you can't use Carsomyr until you get the other swords, but I roleplay my paladin.
How is it, that he gets to become specialized in bastard swords and dualwielding when fighting with a two-hander?
I specialize in one - maybe two - weapons and put one star in the rest. "That's a complete waste of proficielncy point!" - Yeah, but becoming specialized in a lot of weapons my paladin have never fought with just doesn't fit into my perspective of him.
A bit out of topic I suppose...

Yeah basically using the holy avenger is a better idea than duel wielding (for a Paladin at least....... if your a blade who can get use any item I still preferr duel wield save for a few rare cases.... my favor combo is crom fryer on off hand with the ansewer, really great against all those darn high magic resis things later on)
Basically like the other guy say you can get holy avenger before chapter 4, while there are almost no good bastard sword in SOA (the only one I can think of that's remotely close to good would be the blade of searing but even that comes half way into SOA) and later on when you can duel wield them you'll also be able to upgrade the holy avenger.
The final thing that makes me think that using Holy avenger instead of duel wield is better is GW.. you'll get 10 attack per round which you can't beat even with duel wield......
